ScholarshipMEDIAOCEAN Scholarshiphttp://http//wit.mediaocean.com/apply-now Diversity drives innovation and creativity, so why is it that only 25% of jobs in the tech industry are held by women?
To better understand the reason why, we conducted a survey of over 3,000 Americans. What we found was overwhelming – 76% agreed that there aren’t enough women working in technology, while three quarters agreed women don’t get the same level of respect as men. And there are still some people who believe that women don’t belong in tech, with 17% saying it is unfeminine to work in this field, and 6% believing that women are simply less skilled in technology.
We need to take action and make a change now.
We want to encourage and inspire more women to make waves in technology. That’s why we are proud to announce the launch of Mediaocean’s Women in Technology Scholarship Fund.

FellowshipThe Secretary’s Distinguished Research FellowshipSmithsonian Institutionhttp://www.smithsonianofi.com/fellowship-opportunities/secretarys-distinguished-research-fellowship/ Background The Secretary’s Distinguished Research Fellowship recognizes the most promising and innovative research proposals to the one-year Smithsonian Institution Fellowship program by providing a current Smithsonian Fellow with a second year of support. This endowed fellowship was established in 2009 through significant financial support from members of the Smithsonian Board of Regents. The fellowship, in honor of Secretary Wayne Clough’s support for research at the Smithsonian, was named “The Secretary’s Distinguished Fellowship.” This award supports the most promising and innovative research within the fields of science covered by the Smithsonian. Purpose This distinguished award is especially meant to recognize interdisciplinary research that expands the frontiers of areas of Smithsonian strength through cross disciplinary approaches and/or applications of new methods, tools, or theories. Such research often involves two or more programs within one museum or research center, or two or more museums and/or research centers.
How it Works All applicants to the SI Fellowship program are considered for this award on an annual basis. Selection of candidates for receipt of this award is managed through the regular review process each spring. Applicants identified as possible candidates by the various science unit review committees are considered by a panel arranged by the Office of the Under Secretary for Science (OUSS), with the finalists to be nominated to the Secretary for decision on the final award. The term of the fellowship adds a second year to a one-year appointment through the Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program. How to Apply No applications are available to apply directly to the Secretary’s Distinguished Research Fellowship. Rather, recipients of this Fellowship are selected from the applicant pool to the Smithsonian Institution Fellowship program.

http://www.ssrc.org/fellowships/dpdf-fellowship/ The Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowship (DPDF) Program helps early-stage doctoral students in the humanities and social sciences formulate innovative dissertation research proposals through workshops, exploratory summer research, and writing guided by peer review and faculty mentorship. The program seeks young scholars who are interested in strengthening their dissertation research plans through exposure to the theories, literatures, methods, and intellectual traditions of disciplines outside their own. By the end of the fellowship, participating students will complete a draft dissertation research proposal that can be reviewed with academic advisors.
During the DPDF fellowship period, fellows are required to take part in the following activities:

Spring workshop (early June): Fellows work together to hone their research questions and design exploratory summer research plans to identify appropriate methods to answer those questions.
Summer research (June to August): Fellows conduct a minimum of six weeks of research away from their home institutions to establish contacts, find sources, identify sites, review new literatures, and test the feasibility of their initial research questions, methods of investigation, and analytic approaches.
Writing (late August to early September): Fellows draft dissertation research proposals, using an online and interactive DPDF peer-review platform to critique one another’s drafts, in preparation for the fall workshop.
Fall workshop (mid-September): Fellows share their progress and challenges, critique one another’s latest research plans, and begin final revisions of their dissertation research proposals.
Workshops are led by humanities and social sciences faculty with extensive experience helping doctoral students across diverse disciplines refine research proposals. Participants work primarily with the same faculty and small multidisciplinary groups throughout their fellowship.

FellowshipLaw Fellows Outreach ProgramUCLA School of LawNovember 20, 2017http://www.law.ucla.edu/admissions/outreach/ To further this goal, the UCLA School of Law Academic Outreach Resource Center launched the Law Fellows Program in 1997. This program is designed to encourage and prepare high-potential undergraduate and graduate students for a career in law, increase the diversity of the law school pool, and demystify the law school experience.
The program format is made up of several components and includes a series of Saturday Academies held at the Law School. These Academies offer professional-level instruction by law faculty in which Law Fellows are exposed to cases and a variety of other materials used in law school. In addition to the academic enrichment component, each Fellow is assigned a law student mentor with whom they will interact throughout the year. Informative seminars and panel discussions, designed to demystify the law school experience, are led by staff, alumni and other members of the legal community. Each Fellow who successfully completes the program receives a scholarship for an LSAT preparation course. Finally, participants complete a J.D. Action Plan and meet with the directors of the program regularly, often over the course of several years, until they matriculate to law school and beyond receiving continuous academic support, mentoring, counseling and career guidance.
