| Organiser's Thanks and Comments:
| Thanks to helpers: Ed Mellor for map updates, checking and start/finish on the night, Roy Stevenson for registration and the two Karens (N and Q) for looking after and serving the hot food. Thanks also to our hosts at Markland Hill Tennis Club who were very helpful with room preparation and made us welcome.
| This event was the first use of Ed's much larger West Bolton map which had been dormant since he mapped the base several years ago. We managed to capture a significant number of recent developments in our updates, but apologies for missing the private cul-de-sac North of and similarly shaped to that accessing control #32.
| Some late re-planning was necessary after a final check run on Sunday discovered that the Eastern railway bridge would be closed from Monday morning! This is understood to be due to electrification of the line requiring more clearance; traffic congestion arising from closure of several bridges further west may also have contributed to one or two absentees on the night. While the re-planning resolved most issues, it did have some knock-on impacts: (a) the route choice dynamic to the South was moderated and more people seem to have stayed in the Northern half than I originally hoped, thus missing the relative complexities of the path network in the Ladybridge estate. (b) Control replacement in the North overtook map updates for alternative path route selection, particularly around Doffcocker Lodge where KQ took the long way round where a small connecting path had not been added
| All controls were visited except #28. The following queried answers were all allowed: - #22 - I had translated 'Sharples' to Sharpe' asking you for the wrong length - all answers allowed; - #25 - a check confirmed the '2' in 1924 on the bridge plaque was sufficiently ornate and squiggly to be mis-read as '1994' in the dark; - several where one character of your answer was of borderline legibility - please note pencils with softer lead, e.g. 2B rather than HB, tend to provide much better legibility
| However, there remained a few which have been disallowed: - 2 occurrences of #36 which had a similar answer from a differently titled sign on the opposite side of the road end - 2 occurrences where a different lamp-post was recorded for #32 - 2 different answers for #43 - one each for #33, #37, #39, #49, #59 - one for #65 which just looks like it was in the wrong box before being correctly also entered and scored in #60 Congratulations on some very high scoring; Leon recognised that his tussle with Quentin at the top was determined by being a junction out with one answer. It was great to see several newcomers and individuals enjoying big improvements too.
| Lost property - a Rivington Trail t-shirt and one (only) merino sock ; these will be brought to Fulwood for claiming
