How All State Cross Country teams are chosen

From 1954-1962*, 1st team, 2nd team & 3rd team All State was chosen by selecting the 1st seven finishers, 2nd seven finishers & 3rd seven finishers in the State Championship (One Division).  From 1963-1969 chosen by committee and from 1970-1983 twenty one fastest combined times (plus ties) in Division I & Division II.   Starting in 1984 a committee was formed to select the All State teams.  Starting in 2017 the top 18 combined times are placed on one of the All State teams with the top 5 as automatic first team and 6-10 making second team or better.

Each All State Team (1st, 2nd, 3rd) has 7 members.  Competitors with the Top 18 OVERALL combined times (plus ties) in Division I & Division II, at the state championships, are automatically placed on one of the All State teams.  The top 5 are automatic first team, 6 - 10 are second team or better.
