Program is designed to give High School Juniors and Seniors a greater insight and understanding of the excitement and demands of science. Program curriculum is zoology driven, research focused, rich in the use of technology and application based. Students spend 2 1/2 hours of each school day at the Zoo and earn high school credits in science, math and an elective. College credits are also available.

HHC will run for SIX WEEKS, plus three days of Jr. Camp. Campers must be between the ages of 8-15. The last week of camp is open for campers ages 10-15 only. Jr. Camp is for campers ages 6-8 who have never been to camper before and all six-year olds must have completed Kindergarten.

Students who will be in 3rd to 5th grade in the fall of 2022 are invited to attend the Ignite STEM Camp the week of June 25th -July 1st. With 6th to 8th grades being invited to the camp in July. A fun-filled, week-long camp at BGSU, students will engage in thought-provoking experiences about teamwork, problem-solving, and the connections between STEM and the real world. They will get to know other students around the state, build connections and engage in fun mathematical and problem-solving activities. The camp curriculum aligns with the Ohio Learning Standards for Mathematics in fun!

The summer production, open to all Westerville middle and high school students, will be housed at Westerville Central High School and performed July. Students interested in participating in the summer musical must complete an interest form by May 15. Auditions begin May 20.

The Westerville Youth Public Safety Academy (WYPSA) is an annual program developed for local students who have an interest in law enforcement and fire/EMS. Participation requires students to be at least 14-years-old AND have completed the 8th grade. The classes run from 4-9 p.m. each day and will be held at the Westerville Justice Center (229 Huber Village Blvd) or Fire Station 111 (400 W Main St).

The COSI Science Festival will include an exciting variety of events in Columbus and the surrounding communities May 4th, 5th, and 6th, and then cap it all off with the Big Science Celebration – back and in person at COSI on May 7th after being virtual for the last two years. COSI is designing the COSI Science Festival to keep the experience as safe as possible, following local, state, and national health recommendations.

Intercultural Competence for Global Citizenship Summer Camp

The Intercultural Competence for Global Citizenship Summer Camp brings world languages to middle school students in a way they may not encounter in school. Through full-immersion language classes, cultural lessons associated with those languages and intercultural competence/global citizenship activities, students will gain a deeper understanding of how to move through our interconnected world with ease.

We would like to invite you to our free virtual Math Collaboration Group. This is an opportunity to explore interesting math topics that will give you a deeper understanding of math beyond your normal school math curriculum. The topics are covered by math professors from OSU and other universities. This is a completely free virtual session once a month over Zoom. FREE! Westerville students can dive into the world of video editing, design and build model houses that use solar energy, learn Somali and dissect different creatures through Summer Ignite, a district-wide summer learning series created by Westerville educators and staff.

FREE! Students currently enrolled in grades 7-12 in the Westerville City School district are afforded the opportunity to create an ALL-Westerville High School and Middle School production. The Ohio State University Young Writers Workshop is a week-long summer program for high school students in Columbus City Schools, charter schools in the city of Columbus, South-Western City Schools and Reynoldsburg City Schools. This year we are also inviting students in city schools across Ohio.

OSU Camp CAR is a free, weeklong summer day camp for students who will have completed their first year of high school, rising sophomore and junior. Participants gain hands-on experience related to various aspects of automotive research, engineering and mobility including simulation, testing and manufacturing. Participants will also have the opportunity to (informally) tour The Ohio State University campus and visit local automotive research facilities.
