ABOUT THIS TRACKING SPREADSHEET
2
3
The purpose of this spreadsheet is to gather and track event cancellations/postponements and their impact on revenue flow along the live performance sector value chain.
4
Tracking this information will help your associations serve you better and communicate more effectively with governments.
5
The spreadsheet can be populated collaboratively - by all organizations belonging to the same association. Or it can be populated individually - by each organization - in order not to disclose information about fee. The data you populate in this spreadsheet can be collected in multiple ways. ASOs may conduct surveys that include questions mapped to indicators in the spreadsheet. Or a group of ASOs may eventually commission a third party to safely aggregate and integrate individual spreadsheets into a database.
6
To add a cancelled performance, tour, show, season, event, etc. please click the tab "Master List" and enter the appropriate information by column.
7
The spreadsheet is long. It is not necessary to populate all columns. You may choose to only populate those columns that relate to your situation (and hide all other columns that you don't need).
8
Different stakeholders groups within the performing arts value chain each have their own background colour. "Organizer" is meant to be used by presenters/promoters as well as performing arts companies that self-present their productions. "Performer" designates artists, groups or performing arts companies whose production is performed during the event. If you are both the "organizer" and the "performer" of the performance on your list, you may conflate these two categories.
9
Some indicators have a set of predefined values. If you are unsure about the meaning of a value, you may refer to the "values" tabs for lists of values and their definitions.
10
The descriptors and indicators in this spreadsheet are drawn from event ontologies (such as Schema), performing arts ontologies, and standardized survey questionnaires (mostly from Statistics Canada). Suggestions for improvements are welcome.
