|Activity Name||Description/ "Abstract"||Format||Expected Time Length (15 min intervals)||Submitted?||Led By||Other Participants||Other Notes|
|Designing TCRs Workshop||Workshop||2 hours||maybe this is a 30 minute panel with 1.5 hour design sprint?|
|Live Podcasting Room||Taping room for podcast episodes interviewing different designers and developers at Devcon to spread the conversations digitally!||Breakout Room||1 hour|
|Design Thinking for Blockchain Workshop||The workshop has been quite fun and productive for discovering decentralization opportunities. Starting with people/problems set a common ground for creative thinking for varying backgrounds and experience levels.|
For the conference, we could run it as a 3-4 hr exercise for ~20-30 participants (and potentially more). We can also have web3 designers join the breakout groups as catalysts/facilitators.
It could be also interesting to combine this with other activities in your list. For example, we can seed the workshop with particular domains / problem areas and the results could give input into more focused design sprints.
|Workshop||3-4 hours||Engin Erdogan, Burak Arikan, Cenk Dolek||https://medium.com/@erdogan/design-thinking-for-blockchains-ded1d6cabe53|
|Onboarding for Designer Experience Design Sprint||It'd be great to have workshops specifically for designers to participate in (since there's so much for just devX) - we collaboratively work on a tool for on-boarding new designers||Workshop||1 hour||Amy Jung|
|Web3 Design Library and UI/UX patterns||Workshop|
|DApp UX Design Awards||It might be cool to fold the dApp demo's into some awards... |
-> dApps enter the design awards.
-> Design leaders choose the top dApps to demo to the audience.
-> Audience votes for winners of categories (Best overall UX, smartest key management solution, closest universal login implementation).
|Presentation / Panel|
|Usability Testing||Flash usability testing at the conference, as it gives non-researchers a chance to pick-up these skills and some insight into how useful the process is as well.||Breakout Room||Hester from Status|
Zen Mind in Dapp UX Design: Lessons in Designing the Gnosis Safe
|In Shunryu Suzuki's "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind," he talks about the pervasive tendency of students to get so close to a subject, as to completely miss what it’s all about. In UX design, this happens when we get mired in weighing security vs convenience, or technical vs emotive. In this session we will follow the transformative journey of research-enriched UX design, through my experience of designing the Gnosis Safe (safe.gnosis.io). We'll lay out strategies for disarming blockers to innovation and unravel the surprises and breakthroughs that await when we adopt the joys of precocious curiosity again and again. |
Participants will be guided through a quick lightning-research session, so bring a project you are working on or select a product or UX puzzle of your choice to use.

|Mechanism design meets UX||We created a structured technique that we've run with several groups of designers in Australia to explore and experiment with their protocol design. We apply concepts from UX like personas, journeys and usability testing to mechanism design and game theory concepts helping people more easily conduct low fidelity experimentation with incentives, penalties and tokens.||Workshop||checked||Gendry Morales from Flight Plan|
|Design Roundtable + Workshop||A thematic roundtable followed by workshop where we can present ideas and bring our work within the theme to discuss and hear feedback from other designers. |
- reputation system
- decentralized identity
- value of off-chain transaction as well as the combination of on-chain and third-party verification process as this could provide a faster, cheaper way to transact while streamlining user experience (with the good old web2) that would help lowering the barrier of entry.
|Workshop||1.5 - 2 hours||Y||Aqeel & Lili of CryptoDecks|
|Dev-Designer Skill Trade (Language)||This simple breakout session is intended to swap methods and have developers and designers partner up and teach each other something. |
Using facilitated cards, each participant pair (one designer and one developer) will be asked to describe/teach a concept to each other. Go in-depth about the topic or simply discuss a better explanation for future scenarios.
Stop by between breaks for a brief session, or repeat with different people!
How it works:
There will be a stack of cards with words/concepts such as "upgradability", "Casper", "gas", "W-ETH", etc.
Each participant will be asked to describe/teach the word to each other. Even if both parties know the word, the intention is to start a conversation. They can talk more indepth about the concepts or simply find a better way to teach for future scenarios.
If neither knows, there's an explanation and example in the back of the card so they get to learn it together!
A different version:
There will be two stacks of cards - each stack has words/concepts in relation to the role: one stack will be "Dev" (technical) cards and the other "Design" (design) cards. A developer chooses one from their stack and a designer chooses from their stack. They can also choose a topic of their choice.
Each participant will be asked to describe the word/concept to each other.
This would be filmed as part of documentation of Design and Dev Experience.

|UX Audit / Usertesting / user research station||A place where designers / teams can test & receive an audit of their dapp.|

* Designers sign up for 30 minute windows to perform UX audit
* Dapps sign up for 30 minute auditing session
* Dapps audited by a pair of 2 designers. Designers from different Dapps audit together.
Designers/participants get rewarded (bounties) by subjecting themselves to testing? Dapps/designers sign up for sessions?
We would need a standard for audits (we could use Alejandro's Heuristics) as a base?
|Bounties & Job Board||How can we reward/incentivize designers||Laura|
|Moonshot Blockchain Design||Ideate or test your craziest ideas. Voice Activated blockchain logins? Why not?||Workshop||1 hour|
|Design for Non-Fungible Token (erc721) Ecosystem||Discussion of case studies|
Presentation of ideas, solutions to the usability problem in the Nifty universe
- Token's metadata visualisation, flow design
- OOUX for Nifty UX
- Nifty Ecosystem
- Discovery of user behaviour from research and testing
|Generative Design from Blockchain activity||Let's explore how to materialize, or render tangible encrypted matters such as a wallet or a Tx.|
Generated renders can have different forms: pictures, (sound, animations..? And what's more appropriate, for which use case?)
The aim of this workshop is to generate human friendly patterns, instead of hashed strings of characters.
To end this, we'll exploit the power of open source environement Processing and p5js library.
