Earthwise Institute Indonesian Power Summary Database provides a structured, project-level overview of Indonesia’s electricity generation assets and associated project financing, with coverage designed to support system-level, policy, and financial analysis.

The dataset prioritises verifiable projects and conservative scope boundaries, and is intended to offer a transparent and reproducible evidence base rather than an exhaustive catalogue of all announced plans.

Indonesian Power Summary_Captive Coal, Extended Dimensions Database (**this file**) provides 4 extra dimensions to exam the power structure of key sectors in Indonesia that are currently still heavily dependent on coal power, more specially, captive coal power. It looks at the new expansions of Nickel mining and refining sector, which are the core coal-dependent industry in Indonesia, as well as the newly growing Aluminium sector, which will also potentially add on significantly to the coal-dependent practices in Indonesia. The data also screens through the battery-EV sector (downstream of nickel sector), as well as a comprehensive mapping of industrial parks / complexes in Indonesia and their power structure, to further identify bottlenecks and oppertunities in power transition.

- All nickel-related projects in Indonesia expected to come online from 2023 onwards, capturing the full universe of projects regardless of power source and extending beyond captive coal–anchored analysis.

2.2 Indonesian Alu (Aluminium & Alumina) Projects and Power Source Database

- All aluminium-related projects across the full project pipeline in Indonesia, irrespective of whether captive coal is used as the power source.

- Special conditions of available information has been observed when conducting this particular database, where information in one region (China) dominates, and little information from the Indonesian side are available to corroborate. We do not know the reasons behind this scenario. In order to not miss a potentially large portion of information, we have included single-sourced materials too, despite Earthwise Institute's data validation protocol to disregard such materials, for this database only. Readers can make their own judgement by examing into the included references of each project in this database.
