2		About this file	This file has multiple sheets with data for one or more indicators used by Gapminder. In this sheet below you'll first find an overview of the indicators (measures) and the list of underlying sources. The actual data we use, is found in the sheet(s) labeled "data-...". This file is also a documentation of the data process. To follow how the data was transformed from the original sources, start in the sheet to the far right, which holds the input data. You can then follow the process step by step, by looking at the formulas in the sheets from right to left, until you reach the output in the "data-..." sheets.

14		Dataset description:	Data on Women in parliament has been compiled by the Inter-Parliamentary Union on the basis of information provided by National Parliaments. IPU has tracked the percentage of women in national parliaments since 1945 and is the authority for this data. The percentages are available for countries, global and regional data. Values correspond to the number of seats filled in Parliament at the given time. Generally, the information on IPU Parline comes from national parliaments directly. It is updated regularly to take into account any changes that result from elections. Each month, the IPU publishes rankings of the percentage of women in national parliaments for countries, regions and world. In this spreadsheet we used historical series from 1945-2018 joined with latest available at monthly ranking countries data (December 2019 and October 2020). The missing values were calculated using linear interpolation. For global data was used the countries historical series (1945-1996) grouped by year. Global data at source is only available since 1997, that is why from 1997 to 2020 the data comes from the statistical global data and latest available data (December 2019 and October 2020). Regional data was obtained aggregating countries data based on gapminder four regions.
