President's UpdatesStudent volunteers: How are they helping? Community service hours have been questioned by administration. For the raffle sales during concerts any nonmembers were given hours. Board members that are able to attend upcoming concerts, including the Senior Show on January 16th. ITS (International Thespian Society) will be collecting a donation. It is uncertain if the WMAA will sell concessions at this event. Allison will be asked about selling water, chips, and candy.

Director UpdatesThanked board for wind chimes. Four concerts and 2 theater productions. Orchestra concert with the middle school. and Center School on January14th. Band concert is January 21st. Senior Shows is January 16th. Center School has production of Junie B. Jones January 30th and 31st at WHS. The teachers are not aware who the members of WMAA are. The issue has to do with volunteering vs. community service hours and having students know the difference. If there is a question, run it by Kimber. Students should still be encouraged to volunteer (your helping not going to get hours for community service). Final payment for the NYC trip is due February 20th. Calendar raffles need to be completed by Monday the 16th so that all deposits are done for the NYC trip. Raise Right sales are cut off in January, towards the NYC trip. 67 students will be attending the NYC field trip.

FundraiserFamilies were emailed about calendar raffles being due January, 9th. This allows Colleen and Karen to go through the funds. The WMAA is searching for a new Fundraising Chairperson (this is a one year position). Begin mentioning at concerts that we are seeking to fill this position and our current chair is here to assist with the transition . As well as, all the fundraising is already set up. Wix payments are weekly. Reminding nonmembers that their membership helps support the arts. WMS expense less than $200 goes in as a misc. expense. Should this be a line item for the choir in the future? The WMAA will vote on February 3rd for the percentage of the calendar money allotted per member for the NYC trip. Karen will draft statements.

Updates from board members and attendeesTri-M came and spoke. Elena discussed how they would like to promote the You Can Do Both by interviewing students and making a video. Asking them questions such as: what activities are they involved in?, what is their support system like?, what do you to do balance?. The Tri-M is hoping to have the support of the board to help share their platform. Natalie feels that there is a greater audience to reach, through the video and the WMAA support. Julie agreed that the positivity and effort, showing the athletes with instruments, possibly showing the video at the Exchange Concert. Susan further explained the commitment of the faculty to this campaign, stating that certain members did both musical arts and sports. Jessie suggested a how they can do both Q & A. Jane suggested finding faculty to interview as well, discussed the debut of the video, and have an athlete that may want to be featured. Natalie explained that there are theater and sports students that would like to be included. The WMAA Board agreed that we would be happy to help with the Tri-M's efforts to reach a larger audience. Natalie also mentioned that using hashtags for our social media increases the viewers. She explained that using hashtags for choir, theater, orchestra, band, jazz band, and following other directors increases the number of viewers. This includes Robotics, The Tri-M will create the video for the Exchange Concert. Any questions may be addressed via email. Middle school students will also be involved in the You Can Do Both campaign, per Amy's insistence.

Additional Board Activity
Janessa spoke of how Ellie had asked for Santa hats for Honors Choir caroling and they also played at Golden Brook. After they had a Q & A with the 4th graders. WMAA provided pizza and snacks. The m.s. students and 4th graders had a great day. Julie spoke of how Intro to Theater had gone to Center School. Concert Thursday, January 8th: Jessie, Alma, and Jane will serve food. We need 3 people for food and 2 people for tickets and to sell any extra calendar raffles. Janessa will make a $5 donation suggestion sign for tickets. Capri will deliver dinner at 4:45. Jane and Jessie will be there at 4:30. There will be pizza, salad, chicken tenders, and one gluten free pizza. Ask to have plates and napkins included from Capri. Jonathan will call Capri with the order. Becky will have water and cookies. This will serve 256 students, in the cafe. Directors will also be there as chaperones. Table clothes are in the tailgate bin. Karen wanted to know how we get the money back that we fronted. Susan stated that Granite State cuts a check once they have reconciled. The Exchange Concert, on January 23rd, will host 290 students (WHS and WMS band, orchestra, and choir) . Dinner at 5:30 from Capri (pizza, salad, chicken tenders tenders). Julie, Jonathan, Janessa, and Dawn will be there at 4:45 to help serve food. Julie will send out a Sign Up Genius for desserts, drinks, table clothes, forks, etc for the Exchange Concert. Hoping to have a You Can Do Both Slideshow for before the Exchange Concert. Janessa is posting the scholarships. Julie has left the wording the way it was and has a rubric to share with the committee. Julie will try and schedule a meeting with the committee members and update any information at the February meetingVote up to $2000 for food budget for Exchange Concert (motion Janessa, 2nd Jonathan all in favor 9-0)
