Points to Note:
18
1
14 common health conditions were chosen across medical and surgical disciplines, covering different areas of the body.
19
2Class C Wards were chosen as the point of comparision as it is the cheapest ward cost payable for all patients.
20
3It was assumed that the Class C Ward cost reflected on the MOH website were after an 80% government subsidy had been applied. This is the highest government subsidy a patient can receive.
21
4Using the assumption made in Point 3, we used this formula to calculate the cost of a Class C Ward for a non-Singaporean:
[(Cost of Class C Ward for Singaporean/20)*100] = Cost of Class C Ward for Non-Singaporean. These figures are inclusive of GST.
22
5CT scans and MRIs are deemed ‘elective’ by most employers because they are exploratory procedures. This means that most migrant workers are priced out of this, even if their condition requires further testing and is recommended by a doctor.
