Imagine K12 launched in 2011 as the first startup accelerator focused on education technology. In 2016, Imagine K12 merged into Y Combinator to form an education-focused vertical within YC. Impact Engine was launched in 2012 as an accelerator fund with the goal of identifying promising entrepreneurs starting businesses with the potential to drive both attractive financial returns and positive social impact. Selected startups get $10,000 in equity free funding at the beginning while an additional $50,000 will be allocated to most successful teams at the end.
