Intro

The settings shown on these lists are taken from the tutorials provided by George Hall on David Clements' YouTube channel.

Georges's tutorials are based are based around the Studiologic Sledge and as I was watching George work his magic, I took a mind to trying the same settings on the Novation Peak. After successfully creating a few patches I started listing the parameters for the patches in this doc.

On the face of it, the Sledge and the the Peak are two very different beasts but they do have quite a few similarities. Three oscillators, two LFOs, effects (tho' the Peak is missing a Flanger and Phaser, but it makes up for that with some Distortion extras), envelopes and filters.
The Peak has other facilities that the Sledge doesn't have, such as Vsync, Oscillator shaping and a Mod Matrix, whilst the Sledge has a far greater range of Wavetables. It comes as no surprise then that the sounds George creates on the Sledge can be ported over to the Peak with quite a degree of accuracy, albeit with some wavetable and LFO limitations on the Peak.

I say accuracy, there's been a few sounds I've had trouble replicating on the Peak - the Dr Who ones for instance, and the Stairway Guitar which actually sounds like a very passable Piano on the Peak rather than a guitar. This is a bit strange as I have created other guitarry-type sounds on the Peak anyway.

So, I've been working my way thru' Georges tutorials and noting down the settings as he has read them out. These are listed in the following sheet. Hope they are of use. Hopefully they are accurate, tho' having gone back over some of the earlier ones, I noticed some incorrect values, so have corrected them.

Things to do
14
15
1. Complete the sheet with the remaining tutorials (current done up to 49 56 58 ). There's also a few I haven't done, such as the Tomita Snowflakes and Rick Wakeman ones, but I will add them later.
16
17
2. Complete the bank of sounds I've created on the Peak. This will be available for download if you have a Peak.
18
19
3. Consider splitting the sheet into more pages, so there's dedicated pages for the Sledge and the Peak.
20
21
4. Create some of the patches for the Novation Circuit. (Vol.1 now available)
22
23
5. Create some of the patches for the Roland System 8.

This is a public document, please share it with anyone with an interest in Synthesizer sound creation.
