It is the only IIT interview I cleared. Don't want to discuss IIT Kanpur tests as there are already a lot posts on it.
Before GATE: Get enough confidence on each topic of syllabus and keep on practicing numericals. Join test series just for speed and to get the feel of actual exam and solving questions in that pressure.
GATE exam: Solve the easy questions first , then medium and then tough. If you are half confident about the concept , don't answer that question. Double check the 2 marks questions. As in GATE 1 mark less can snatch your admission to IISc/IITs.

i attended only second round of selection at iit k. Two rounds were there ,!st is written(mcq,fill in the blanks) of easy level and second one was a coading round
which was of good level. Out of 180-200 students 33 get selected.
mediocre gate ranker (general) dont loose hope, and after gate try to be in touch with notes , this will make huge difference during interview
