And I am encouraging the authorities (District, County, Police, Fire & Rescue, NHS etc) to link with local newsletters to get out local messages about local issues (e.g. when Fire Alarm checks are being done for free in an area). A register of local newsletters (parish, community, village hall or whatever) and their editors' contact details, would be a good communication tool for communities and local authorities, to help take forward Localism/Big Society/Stronger Communities.
In 10 years time (or less) we won't need to do paper copies as info will be going out via out TVs, tablets, on Twitter, or hyperlocal sites, but meanwhile to build stronger communities, we need to use local newsletters to give better communication, and to develop use of tools such as Cumbria Community Messaging system to get more urgent info around at a local level (e.g. "The Carol service is cancelled tonight due to the severe ice conditions") within a short timescale.
You could do with a option for 'Sponsorship' as to keep things simple, I don't take £s for adverts, but get local business to sponsor an edition.
