about keeping our lives moving,
and for once could do nothing,
perhaps a huge silence
might interrupt this sadness
of never understanding ourselves
and of threatening ourselves with death."

Aerin DunfordArticle or blog, ProcessComfort, Stretch and Panic Zoneshttps://docs.google.com/document/d/14G0cvv8kD9Tw3pDXGRjWDWIsWct7RaVlL-3tnFBZSgQ/editThis idea offers a great language or vocabulary to help get a sense of where others are (usually works best in teams or where there is plenty of trust). If we're thinking about conflict and the conditions that help us understand each other better, this is an excellent base-line tool. This is a framework and practice developed by YES! World which helps us understand our reactions to things and to cultivate empathy for others and their own zones. https://www.yesworld.org/Coming Down to Earth

Aerin DunfordArticle or blog, Group processThe Compass of Reactionshttp://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?m=1101621127571&ca=9cee7e40-a467-4d4a-9f7b-81b91ead150aThis has been a revolutionary tool for me. Also related to conflict transformation, it helps us understand our own, individual responses in times of conflict (when we are in our panic zones). It just feels like such a good starting point for conversations about tension, conflict or differences of opinion/points of view. This is a complementary process that goes with "The Zones" (shared previously) that also comes from YES! World community and can be found in their manual for facilitation processes. It is also available here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wkIv4F7z7nK5K0fpmeWBk4zYAsu6UW2yibYfl_aLrYg/edit) , but the version above (found in YES!'s newsletter this week) has nice graphics. Rethinking the American Dream
https://jonessuzanne562.wixsite.com/mysite
I wrote this book after losing everything in a California wildfire. This experience changed my life - for the better. It made me rethink what I had been told about the American dream and led me to many resources that have shown me how to live my life very differently, with more serenity, more fulfillment, more connection to the land, to other people, and to myself.
Suzanne Jones
Probably mostly related to the newly arising discussion group on the Gift Economy.
You can find my e-mail address on the above website. Please e-mail me and I will send you a PDF copy of the book as a gift.
