1F-Zero9.2918:09:05Nintendo EADRacingNov 21, 1990Aug 23, 1991June 4, 1992Yes [V]1PHaving to beat expert or higher difficulty in order to earn the credits makes this game very challenging to "complete." Though fun and rewarding gameplay make it a really stellar game, the artificial difficulty from the "rubber banding" that keeps the other racers always relevant is very detrimental when you are not thoroughly practiced on a stage to maintain your speed, so it requires perfecting. F-Zero remains a visual and audial marvel even now, being quite the testament to its timeThe Rules

2Super Mario World: Super Mario Bros. 41034:30:33Nintendo EADAction / PlatformerNov 21, 1990Aug 23, 1991June 4, 1992Yes [V]2PTo me, a timeless game. Ceaselessly fun and quite honestly very strongly represents the potential of what sort of experiences the super nintendo can provide. SMW sets the standard for everything else to adhere to in all aspects without a doubt in my mind, and continues to hold up to this day as one of the highest quality gaming experiences you can have on this gaming system. Just maneuvering around with Mario feels really great, and this game (combined with DKC later) really cemented the idea of holding down a button to run in an action platformer, and making it feel natural. I will say here that 10's for me are not a representation of perfection. A 10 is timelessly enjoyable and possibly at the peak of its execution for this console alone. I am not shy about handing out 10's for games that play extraordinarily well, and going over my reviews after experiencing so many other action platformers on this console. Very little if anything comes remotely close to feeling this good to control and play. Youtube Playlist

3It's Dynamite Ka-Blooey / Bombuzal2427:31:04Image WorksPuzzleDec 1, 1990Aug 31, 1992Unreleased2PA bare bones puzzler with disappointingly subpar graphics retained from its original release on other systems. It has challenging puzzles but only because you can rarely see the entire puzzle at any one given time, so you have to solve it in chunks as you travel on the stage. Even the zoom out camera doesn't provide a full view all the time! Not to mention that grating song, why! Conceptually the game play mechanic is also rather basic to a fault. I didn't find the process of figuring these puzzles out to be very engaging. Twitch Channel

4Actraiser 7.855:05:55QuintetAction / Platform / SimulationDec 16, 1990Nov 1, 1991Mar 18, 19931PA really interesting experience. The action segments outshine the "strategic" "world builder/god" elements which tend to be a repetitive intermission for me. Not too challenging of a game until that final boss rush which kicked my ass. All of the bosses must be beaten in a row and they are sped up for whatever reason. Fantastic soundtrack and audio qualities for the time, I think this game provides a really unique experience that stands with the best. I do wish there was more interesting things to achieve for the God game segments though, rather than just clearing out the monster dens and maybe finding a secret or two with a specific god power in a specific location.

5Populous2.7781:16:02Bullfrog Productions / ImagineerReal Time StrategyDec 16, 1990Sep 30, 1991Sep ??, 19911PI understand this game is a genre creating grand daddy and therefor it has my appreciation and respect. I will be honest though, this game is tedious and is hit hard with sheer repetitiveness among falling short in a lot of other ways. It is obnoxiously long to beat this game, but I did it anyway because I am serious about this challenge. The inherit lag makes menuing through the unique albeit unintuitive user interface cumbersome. The game play here is arguably not very entertaining as you raise and lower land to flatten it out, so you can have stronger cities produce stronger citizens to fight the evil god's forces. Perhaps I would feel differently toward the PC version, or perhaps if I did not conquer 998 levels by playing nothing but this game for a week and some, but I did not enjoy the gruelling experience this game provides.

6Final Fight6.858:43:46CapcomBeat Em' UpDec 21, 1990Nov 10, 1991Dec 10, 19921POverall, the gameplay boils down to keeping the 3 enemies on screen to the same side so none get behind you. The game introduces some timeless characters and has a fun ost. The situations it presents with its enemies are often similar rather than varied, as the groups will walk into the scene except on rare occassions. I think Final Fight might have been showing to me its age, or the port on SNES here simply does not do the arcade hit justice. This is the beat em up to beat though, as many imitators borrow from Final Fight here so I suppose it is setting the bar for similar titles. Abigail is still a real jerk.

7Gradius III7.3816:00:04KonamiShooterDec 21, 1990Aug 23, 1991Unreleased2PI have heard this is touted as the easiest gradius game. Even still, perhaps it is because I suck at shmups but I found it to be really challenging, taking me multiple days to beat. Really fun though, and I love the options available for lots of different play styles and variety, that sort of stuff adds a lot of replayability to a shooter game. The game does suffer from noticeable amounts of lag, which is single handedly what makes it "easier" since you naturally have more time to react to situations. The variance in the levels keeps things very interesting. Gradius is a rather imaginative experience.

8Pilotwings7.289:11:17Nintendo EADSimulationDec 21, 1990Aug 23, 1991Jan 21, 19921PThis game is an experience that I think everyone should get a chance to try if possible. Especially blind if you can. Though it is fairly difficult as it demands perfection from the player in order to progress. Considering the SNES's technology, this game provides some amazing experiences in what it is emulating and conveying, and even has a nice unexpected realization that left quite the impression on me once you realize that all of the different game modes are actually training of sorts for the story.

9SD The Great Battle: Aratanaru Chousen5.8 / 5.822:27:12BanprestoPlatformer / ShooterDec 29, 1990UnreleasedUnreleased1PQuite a mash up of franchises in a quirky little platformer. It is not bad for a once over but it lacks content and challenge to keep you wanting to play more, so just above average in my opinion. The bombastic chibi figures are neat to look at and the game runs very smoothly as well for an early SNES title. Jumping onto moving platformers did feel mildly problematic though, at least the detection with the platforms. Many times I felt like I fell through them.

10HAL's Hole in One Golf7.567:14:14HAL LaboratorySportsFeb 23, 1991Sep 15, 1991Oct 22, 1992MPThis game has one song in it and its really fun I think. HAL is totally a cheater. The game is enjoyable despite that, and is the first golfing game I have ever played. It has some options to it, but your mileage with the game will vary greatly depending on how much you actually like golf and if you have friends to play with, as the multiplayer functionality I think is really smooth and quick. A great start for golf titles on the system and easily sets the bar for all to follow.

11Jaleco Rally: Big Run: The 4WD Challenge6.233:26:35JalecoRacingMar 20, 1991UnreleasedUnreleased1PThis game made me laugh a lot with the unrealistic car flipping and what not. The gameplay is nothing impressive but the ost was. I still don't fully understand the best way to manage repairing your car in the middle of a race, besides that there probably is not. There is not much else to do after you succeed once though, you will essentially be able to always beat this game I feel. Especially with track memorization, the only randomness are the car spawns but they usually appear at the same places.

12Darius Twin5.635:36:17TaitoShooterMar 29, 1991Nov 30, 1991Apr 22, 19932PI think the fishy themed enemies are pretty comical. The game isn't really bad but as far as shmups go to date, gradius was far more fun and challenging. This game is lacking something and after playing further shmups on the system, they back up my final feelings on Darius Twin being somewhat average to other games within the genre.

13Harukanaru Auga / New 3D Golf Simulation: Harukanaru Auga412:32:16T&E SoftwareSportsApr 5, 1991UnreleasedUnreleasedMPThis golf simulator has an interesting presentation as it is trying to emulate 3d golfing. It lags like crazy as each new scene takes entire seconds to load, and the way the environment is rendered makes identifying hills at least for me nearly impossible, thus making the game a lot harder to play well. It lacks any music except nature sounds which I guess could work but for me was a miss. The general pacing really harmed my enjoyment for this game but at the very least the game practically hands you its credits for free.

14Ultraman: Towards The Future / Ultraman3.651:07:58BECSuper Hero / FightingApr 6, 1991Oct 19, 1991UnreleasedYes [V]1PJump and kick and jump and kick and maybe roll into a grab and then jump and kick and rinse and repeat and...admittedly a small portion of this game was spoiled to me by a viewer (which is fine, i don't actually mind spoilers normally) but you have to finish the enemies with a level 4 super in order to beat them, and I do not know how long it would have taken me to figure that out. I think not long but it might have dampened my experience even further. Sub par fighter game. Everything amounts to singular hits. Combined with the floaty jumping mechanic, this game lacks viable options or interesting game play decisions that make a lot of 2d fighters so fun.

15SimCity5.7491:45:28MaxisSimulationApr 26, 1991Aug 23, 1991Sep 24, 19921PThis game has fun songs but once you hit metropolis, that song dominates the average length of any of the scenario's and gets tiring. I thought the scenario's were pretty interesting and proivided some challenge. Highly recommend not playing the final scenario blind though, it took a tremendously long time for me to make a megalopolis with absolutely zero strategies in how to do that efficiently. The game is enjoyable for what it is, pretty simple and not much to look at though. The pacing on the SNES version is very slow however.

16Super Bases Loaded / Super Professional Baseball7510:07:40ToseSportsMay 17, 1991Sep 30, 1991Unreleased2PSo for the first baseball game on the system, I was actually pretty impressed with the overall presentation and the solid gameplay and controls. Some points lost because a left handed pitcher actually rotating the screen is very off putting to what you probably get used to first, which is a righty's view point. This game is actually pretty hard to beat as you have to get a really high score and then a perfect score against a level 5 ai.

17Drakkhen4.8310:22:02Kemco-SeikaRPGMay 24, 1991Sep 1, 1991??? ??, 19911PWell, Drakkhen is one of the more imaginative games I have ever experienced. It is absolutely weird with crazy... inventive, and terrifying enemies and somewhat scary sound effects. The whole package overall is a below average rpg experience with a lot of weird shit I don't fully understand like how the combat system is actually working entirely. It also has a strange plot and just lots of strange things overall. Beware the space head monsters and remember to check out on youtube the horrors of the I love you monster.

18Gdleen7 / 7.2327:52:06Jordan / JorudanJRPGMay 28, 1991UnreleasedUnreleased1PAn interesting rpg that has a lot of neat mechanics I could not fully utilize due to the extensive language barrier of the game, such as taming enemies to fight for you. I relied heavily on my friends support and a guide to navigate, but language barrier aside, it seems like an easier rpg with the amount of healers that are around the world. The final boss still bothers me that he seemingly has a minimum level requirement, but overall I recommend to rpg fans to experience this, maybe some generous soul will give it an english translation someday.

19Ys III: Wanderers From Ys6.948:59:02Nihon Falcom / Advanced CommunicationAction / JRPGJune 21, 1991Jan 10, 1992Unreleased1PJust make sure you grind a teensy bit more than I did on average to trivialize the game. It has really fun music and a comical plot if you enjoy it for what it is. The gameplay comes down to tanking the enemy before it gets you most of the time, though in my play through I guess I highlight a lot of survival strats as I was often under leveled.

20Nolan Ryan's Baseball / Super Stadium5.622:33:41Affect / RomstarSportsJuly 2, 1991Feb 28, 1992Unreleased2PThis particular baseball game has a neat aesthetic but other than that, does a lot of things in a strange way. Just the way the game feels and the weight of the ball in how the characters sort of lob it comes across as jarring and doesn't feel good or make sense. It's a pretty average game overall. It also lacks multiplayer options which seem like they would be a no brainer inclusion for a baseball title.

21Kidou Senshi Gundam F91: Formula Senki 01226.817:46:52Nova GamesStrategyJuly 6, 1991UnreleasedUnreleased1PQuite a mouthful of a title. So you move on a grid which I guess is just a means to an end as it comes across as fairly pointless to me. The real meat of the game has you trying to line up things with your radar and then mashing A until you attack first and then rinse and repeat. This was one of the first games where I was actually starting to get bored besides populous. It looks pretty good though and has nice music. The tracks are shorter in length and loop frequently however.

22Baseball Simulator 1.000 / Super Ultra Baseball9.312:06:06Culture BrainSportsJuly 12, 1991Dec 1, 1991UnreleasedYes [V]2PMight be a slightly biased review. Personally, this is one of my favorite baseball games ever. I had tons of fun playing it with my brothers back in the day and upon revisiting it here for my challenge, it holds up extraordinarily well compared to its peers. It is absolutely crazy with the powers enabled in a good way, and even without the powers, it is one of the best baseball games on the system in my opinion, with solid controls and a great sense of space and readability. You know when to swing that bat and hit that ball on an intuitive level that feels correct, and the field play is smooth as well. This game is brimming with fun personality.

23Super R-Type / Sūpā Āru Taipu8.71045:29:58IremShooterJuly 13, 1991Sep 1, 1991June 4, 19921PI like it a lot. I might complain about the difficulty quite a bit since I totally suck at shmups but the game was a ton of fun despite having me out of my comfort zone. I do feel that some of the stages have really poor design choices (level 6...and 7 is obnoxious) But the game is undeniably really solid in terms of game play and fun all around, though at times laggy. You are rewarded for playing well by keeping your power ups, but even without them you can eventually manage. Still, the game is insanely hard to actually beat. Fantastic soundtrack.

24The Legend Of The Mystical Ninja / Ganbare Goemon: Yukihime Kyuushutsu Emaki9.045:34:42KonamiAction / PlatformerJuly 17, 1991June 30, 1992??? ??, 19942P Colorful, animated, and really fun. You do have to tolerate some grinding of money, which is a slight downside. You have a lot of different ways to go about grinding that money but I think I narrowed down the best and most reliable way to do it when applicable. A really fun action platformer game though, and it has co-op which can make for a really great time with a friend.

25Final Fantasy II / Final Fantasy IV9321:13:36SquareJRPGJuly 19, 1991Nov 23, 1991Unreleased1PI enjoyed the characters and the shifting of the party to keep changing up your strategies. Though for the most part you do have a few "core" members that are normally around. You are actually crazy powerful in this game, capable of destroying most mobs in one shot with your basic attack. The end of the game was rather challenging until I figured out I could run from the "boss" encounters. I still don't wholly understand the mechanics of the final boss though and why he was absolutely destroying me, and then on the final attempt he simply didn't. That comes with playing blind, but overall I'd say a very new player friendly RPG experience, and many appreciated modernazation features such as speeding along NPC's out of your way make for a really clean experience.

26Battle Dodge Ball - Toukyuu Daigekitotsu!5 / NA59:49:05BanprestoJRPG / SportsJuly 20, 1991CancelledUnreleased2P The core game play for this game is fine though flawed and probably better with two human players going at it. Your ai partners are garbage and simply act as additional health for the opponent to chew through. The RPG mode is...well. I suggest not going through that ordeal yourself. Just watch me do it and save yourself some time. I don't think the rpg mode works for dodgeball, especially with that insane encounter rate, it quickly became a tiresome exercise of tedium and mental endurance. Otherwise the actual Dodge ball game play is alright.

27U.N. Squadron / Area 888.976:48:15CapcomShooterJuly 26, 1991Sep 9, 1991Dec 10, 19921PReally fun presentation with the whole grid map level selection. The game is difficult, with hard to see bullets that tend to blend into the environments and a somewhat cluttered amount of enemies on screen at any one time. The customization is cool but I think getting good with the original plane and then just getting the best plane is probably the best way to go about things, leaving a lot of the plane options being irellevant. The weapons are very fun though the fact you have to buy them is somewhat moot as you earn a lot of money, so it only harms players that are struggling already.

28Extra Innings / Hakunetsu Pro Yakyuu: Ganba League 6.253:34:14Sony Imagesoft / StingSportsAug 9, 1991Mar 20, 1992Unreleased2PChallenging ai as far as I can tell. Great aesthetics but the game play is held back by the unclear batting play and it feels like gravity is increased within that game world. With the Slow outfield play and slow throwing speed, any clean hit is practically a guaranteed double at least. This game feels like an improved Nolan Ryan's Baseball to me. Only marginally improved though. The nice anime aesthetics are enjoyable as well.

29Shodan Morita Shogi 3.8 / 4.542:03:51Kazuro MoritaBoard Game / ShogiAug 23, 1991UnreleasedUnreleased1P[u]It is a shogi simulator, not really a traditional video game in most aspects. It isn't subpar by any means. If you want to practice shogi against an ai, this is a great way to do it. It simply lacks in a lot of my personal reviewing aspects so it scores low. If I didn't adhere to 10 aspects, this would probably rate as a 6 for me. It is not a visually or audially impressive title so it hits this midling field.

30Super Tennis5.7811:50:48Tose / Tonkin HouseSportsAug 30, 1991Nov 2, 1991June 4, 19922PI think Super Tennis is actually a good game, possibly a great sports game. I don't feel confident about standing by that though. I swear the top half of the court is not built/designed/integrated properly. The game also has a steep learning curve. Once you get over that learning curve, it will provide you a very sophisticated tennis experience. It has a lot of problems to consider though. I can see myself rating this higher in the future.
32
31Hyperzone / HaipāZōn3.720:41:41HAL LaboratoryShooterAug 31, 1991Sep 1, 1991??? ??, 19911PVery basic shooter that does seem to be based upon the technology used in F-zero. It felt more like a tech demo for mode 7 on the SNES than a legitimate video game. I think the basic game play, somewhat annoying sound fx, and generic enemies/bosses that all essentially do the same things, among other shortcomings leaves this game lacking severely.
33
32Smart Ball / Jerry Boy6.422:02:21Game Freak / System Sacom Action / PlatformerSep 13, 1991Mar 1, 1992Unreleased1PI want to call this the little platformer that could. It has some neat ideas, and is mostly a really basic platformer game with a couple of interesting mechanics. I enjoyed the ability to cling to the walls. The game has some charm to it but lacks sophistication with how to tackle any given situation. I think while the game is overall decent, the ease of the challenge, generic styled enemies with nice though basic 2 frame animations abound, as well as the music being less memorable than I would like keep me from rating this higher. It is not a very standout title, but is worth a play through.

33Romance Of The Three Kingdoms II / Super Sangokushi II6.7331:27:33KoeiGrand StrategySep 15, 1992May 1, 1992UnreleasedMPInteresting Grand Strategy game. It has the makings of many great ideas to create an epic war game though I feel it falls short in certain aspects. It was still fun to play, I actually enjoy strategy type games of this nature and I am looking forward to see how/if it improves with the future titles in this franchise. AI doesn't really challenge you though and once you get an idea of what you are doing, I think it doesn't have room for unique or alternative strategies that vary too greatly.

34World League Soccer / Pro Soccer2.711:20:11C-LabSportsSep 20, 1991 Apr ??, 1992Unreleased2POur first soccer game on the SNES and I'm not sure I can even call it a soccer game. It just didn't really feel like I played soccer through this game. It is more like some sort of arcade-esque...i'm not sure how I would exactly describe it. Almost gave me a sensation that I was playing table top foosball. This game has a lot of problems and upon reflection, was pretty bland. I think it would on average be humorous for about an hour and then the charm will wear off fast. Poor controls and poor game play.

35Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts / Chō Makaimura9.0715:24:05CapcomAction / PlatformerOct 4, 1991Nov 28, 1991Dec 10, 1992Yes [V]1PThis game is not as difficult as I remember it being as a kid. I steadily and quickly saw improvement in my play. It just takes a little memorization as the stages adhere strongly to the same strategies working continuously. The only thing that kept me stumped is that one boss fight with the goddess bracelet. I think it is a really fun game. Arthurs intentionally poor controls are pretty strange to get used to though.

36The Chessmaster3.51015:24:52MindscapeBoard GameFeb 17, 1995Sep 1, 1991??? ??, 19912PJust like with the shougi game, this is not necessarily a bad game. It merely scores low as it falls short on a lot of the aspects I personally look into for coming up with a rating for a video game. If you like chess and being challenged by a competent ai, (from the perspective of a chess casual, maybe the ai is stupid to an actual chess master.) I think this game will serve you solid mileage. If not, it will not. Playing it just to beat the ai at least once on its standard difficulty was a huge ordeal for me, I suck at chess.

37Super Earth Defense Force6.854:18:25JalecoShooterOct 25, 1991Jan 1, 1992??? ??, 19921PLots of weapon variety is a plus and interesting "storytelling" with the level design. Relatively generic enemies that mostly fire at you with a spread shot or straight tracking shot leaves the game play to be pretty simple. Play through once to get some basic memorization and then utilize the power of your orbitals effectively to easily overcome this shoot em up game. I would say solid shmup for begginers to the genre.

38Final Fantasy IV EasyType9215:16:43SquareJRPGOct 19, 1991UnreleasedUnreleased1PIt's just easier final fantasy IV. 39Super Castlevania IV / Akumajou Dracula8.144:05:48KonamiAction / PlatformerOct 31, 1991Dec 4, 1991Aug 27, 19921PVery enjoyable platformer. Also a very friendly platformer with how you have infinite retries at the start of a level, generous checkpoints, and very simple but challenging game play. I would recommend this game for people that want to start getting into platformers or castlevania in general as well as younger gamers. I think this game is a great entry title into gaming in general. There is a reason why Castlevania is highly regarded. It also exudes great music and theming.

40John Madden Football / Pro Football4.927:37:10Park Place ProductionsSportsJan 17, 1992Nov 1, 1991Unreleased2PDecent looking football game that probably is more enjoyable with another human. I had the difficulty rating higher in my mind at first up until I learned how to manipulate the ai. Considering they all fall for the same defensive and offensive strategies, I feel the game is not difficult at all anymore. Not ideal controls, and absolutely no training or assistance means you kind of have to know football already in order to get a lot out of the game or understand when to do what plays. It is a bit sluggish when running which hurts its score more.

41Paperboy 23.369:04:51TengenArcadeUnreleasedNov 1, 1991??? ??, 19922PArcade style game about being a paperboy. It's very challenging as you can only make 5 mistakes before you lose all progress. It is very lengthy as you have to suvive for 21 days and it takes a fair few minutes to get through one. It is insanely repetitive and boring to me but could be a decent challenge if you want to get a high score.

Thankfully the save system alleviates the actual terror of failure this game exudes, but that does not exclude it from how poor the design is overall. Identical environments and the same 1 or 2 songs throughout and you have a recipe for what feels like lazy game design.

ShooterNov 29, 1992Apr 1, 1992UnreleasedTop down scrolling shooter that has some nice music but overall is just average to slightly below average in every regard. Compared to other shooters on this system, we have lack luster graphics and animation, all enemies fire the same bullet and in simple ways, with the same premise that has been done many times prior on the sne. It adheres to simple arcade style systems that are designed to get your coins/deaths.

46Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball2.217:04:05Hewson ConsultantsSportsUnreleasedDec 1, 1991UnreleasedWith an easily manipulated ai, this game is a chore to play through and maintain your alertness by staying awake. Very boring, very basic. Too basic even. You can customize the teams and all which is always nice but there is very little saving this game. The music gets repetitive but the beats are kinda groovy the first couple times you hear them, then lose their charm fast. As for gameplay, well. You can watch my video back on the youtube playlist and see for yourself how bad it is as we stand around waiting for the timer to run out with the ai doing nothing to prevent its losses.

47Super Off Road 5.221:36:43Leland CorporationRacingJuly 3, 1992Dec 1, 1991June 24, 1993Decently fun arcade racer. It doesn't really have a goal outside of winning a lot of money and then maxing out your nitro? The drive to play the game seems marred on the snes because achieving a high score is more of a personal thing when not on an arcade cabinet, especially since no save battery will preserve your information after a power down. Excellent music though.

49D-Force / Dimensional Force2.564:41:26AsmikShooterDec 10, 1991Dec 31, 1991UnreleasedGeneric shooter game that has this foreground background gimmick for only 3 of its 7 stages. Horrendous hitboxes make the game harder than it actually feels it should be. It doesn't help that visually it is very bland. I don't think this one is worth anyone's time. One of the weaker shoot em up games by far. I resorted to pause buffering for most of this ordeal just to get through it, as it can be quite brutal when you die and power down to your weakest of states.

50Chibi Maruko-chan: Harikiri 365-Nichi no Maki6 / 6.411:11:51SAS SakataParty / Board GameDec 13, 1991UnreleasedUnreleasedMPCute looking party game based on the japanese manga/tv series of the same name. It is a pretty fun party game, akin to mario party only simpler. You move on a board and are at the mercy of rng to score the most points. You can also obtain items and play minigames sometimes. It was pretty entertaining and that is without me understanding anything.

51Lagoon / Ragūn2.4811:58:34KemcoJRPGDec 12, 1991Feb 1, 1992May 27, 19931PThis is a really unenjoyable video game. You have the most pathetic attack ever granted to a player on the snes to date. Your magic which is actually good, is taken away during every boss fight because "reasons." To go with those issues, is a fairly bland world with a fairly unappealing art style. This is a generic action rpg that "borrowed" a lot of Y's systems and mechanics only to use them in a subpar game. Also the water never looked remotely dirty, despite the entire plot being about the water going bad.

52Super Soccer / Super Formation Soccer6.2925:55:35Human EntertainmentSportsDec 13, 1991May ??, 1992June 4, 1992I consider this sports game to be visually impressive for an early SNES title, especially compared with other snes games up to this date so far. The game play I think is marred with technical issues such as rapid player switching due to proximity (a plague of sports titles in this era,) and idiotic player ai combined with an unequal depth creating entirely different requirements to succeed if you are at the top instead of the bottom. This game will satisfy soccer fans and can be fun for playing against a friend. Without cheesing the ai which there is a cheese strat I found very late, it is extremely difficult as the ai receives numerous handicaps to get them as much advantage as possible such as running faster than usual with the ball for example.

53Super Wagyan Land3.9 / 3.6114:43:59Nova GamesPlatformerDec 13, 1991UnreleasedUnreleasedDr. Wily knock off decides to steal all of your robot lizard friends and cage or hang them by their foot throughout the island. After going through a very basic stage, you get to a boss. Every boss decides it is a good idea to instead play a minigame with you. The language barrier makes this game a nightmare to complete, but the game is so basic and easy otherwise. Easily directed towards children, I feel like this game does not have much to offer. Very simplified platformer, though probably fairly educational as well for that younger audience.

54Lemmings5.45 / 922:24:33PsygnosisPuzzleDec 18, 1991Mar 1, 1992Aug ??, 1992Lemmings is a decent puzzle game. I think it has a myriad of problems that hold it back from being really good, namely the mechanics themselves. Lemmings over lap each other so giving orders is tedious and most of the stages boil down to separating the pack and strategically working with 1 or a few lemmings to do everything while the army then follows suite. I think there was lost opportunity there. It is also a game for ants, as exact pixels actually matter sometimes and the whole scale of the game is small, I wish you could zoom into it.

55Dungeon Master4.5426:49:37FTL GamesDungeon Crawler / RPGDec 20, 1991June 1, 1993??? ??, 19931PDungeon Master exudes its namesake as you traverse seemingly endless grey colored halls filled with monsters, traps, puzzles, and sometimes treasures. It is definitely not a game that will be to most peoples tastes I think. I will give it credit for being quite atmospheric, as the game lacks music in favor of ambience sounds. Getting around can be dizzying due to how similar everything looks so I highly recommend making your own map as you play to avoid getting lost. I do wish the game was visually more intricate than what it ends up being. It also plays somewhat slowly which is cumbersome to say the least, as well as the controls not being ideal.

56Super Fire Pro Wrestling7.4 / 732:57:35Human ClubSports / FightingDec 20, 1991UnreleasedUnreleasedI enjoyed playing this more than I would have thought originally, seeing as I don't actually care all that much for wrestling. The game has a lot to it, which surprised me. Tons of visual candy with the move variations and it is very easy to play but hard to play well due to its emphasis on strict input timing to win grapples especially. The experience is streamlined in a really nice way and considering it has multiplayer, I imagine that would be the highlight of the game by far. The AI is not so bad to deal with so single player world championship mode is fairly easy.

57SD Gundam Gaiden: Knight Gundam Monogatari: Ooinaru Isan / SD Gundam Knight Gundam Story: The Great Legacy5.9 / 5.6422:06:40TOSEJRPGDec 21, 1991UnreleasedUnreleased1PDragon Quest or Warrior style rpg. It doesn't really innovate with anything but it does provide a fair level of challenge, especially when you hit chapter 3. Despite the fact I can not understand japanese, I can tell that this game was borrowing ideas from various other sources, such as Final fantasy 4 which is not necessarilly bad but leaves the game feeling more generic. Battle sprites are really nice but the overworld presentation is rather plain, as well as all of the environments being lack luster as they are all the same type of environments and they are barren as well. Still, I think if you understand japanese or have assistance like I did, then it is a worthwhile game to check out if you are a fan of jrpgs.

58Nobunaga's Ambition: Lord of Darkness / Super Nobunaga no Yabou: Bushou Fuunroku6.5446:27:08KoeiGrand StrategyDec 21, 1991??? ??, 1994UnreleasedWhile very similar to Koei's first title for the system, this game is slightly more sophisticated. NA: LoD brings a lot of extra strategical options to the game. However I do feel that much of it is held back with imbalance. Defenders have an undeniable advantage. Especially in the Castle fight with guns as defenders always have 3 range through walls with no Line of Sight issues. Guns being insanely strong makes sense imitating reality, but for game balance this feels like a problem. Being the attacker is often difficult and somewhat frustrating. You are not rewarded for smart play and tactics. Guns and warships have a lack of counter play, and they will trump most things. With that in mind, I enjoyed this game about equally as much as Romance II overall. They are very much similar in execution, just with different thematic flavours.

59Spanky's Quest / Hansei Zaru: Jirou-kun no Daibouken6.535:20:57NatsumePlatformer / PuzzleDec 27, 1991July 1, 1992??? ??, 1992A platformer that has a unique attack action which the stages are designed around. The overall presentation is steered towards a younger audience as well as the difficulty being on the easier side. I was stumped for quite awhile for some reason on stage 5 though and the final boss rush does require some patience as the bosses have some health to them. This games challenge mostly comes from figuring out the best way to handle the different stages though, and it has little variance or rng to change up a solution that works. I would say it does the puzzle platforming decently enough, and it is fairly fun, though nothing overly stood out to me as being especially fun. Still, it is worth a play through if you like cute games.

60Thunder Spirits / Thunder Force III5.742:03:41TechnosoftShooterDec 27, 1991June ??, 1992UnreleasedA some what generic shmup. I feel it has serious presentation problems, with the background and foreground elements obstructing the enemies and causing some visual tedium to my mind and eyes. It is not at all awful to observe as a still image, and some of the designs are actually quite striking. When the game is in motion however with your bullets and enemies all going, things seem to smear. I lost track of my own ship many times, let alone even noticing a lot of the enemies that appeared. This game also employs an awful button layout in my opinion, with absolutely zero options whatsoever to ammend the standard control scheme. This game could have benefitted from more time in development regarding its SNES port and options for the player to edit. Some nice music though.

61Super Ninja Boy / Super Chinese World6.4211:59:03Culture BrainAction / Beat Em' Up / JRPGDec 28, 1993??? ??, 1993UnreleasedUnique mash up of two genre's, rpg and action beat em up. It has a fun personality and some serious charm with interesting gameplay that is held back from some equally serious issues. Most glaringly, the encounter rate is atrociously high. To the point that I kid not when I say you can exit a battle, not touch the controller, and immediately enter a new battle. Hitboxes are fairly poor as well but you are sufficiently powerful to circumvent that issue. The game presents some interesting platforming that is somewhat challenging but has potentially harsh check points with how its systems are designed. This game is not what I would call difficult though. Anytime I was wrecked by a boss, the problem solves itself by just putting some time in grinding a few levels which is fairly quick. I don't know how this games math works because each level nets you 1 more defense stat, maybe not even but just by being at a certain level, boss's attack damage were cut in half which makes them piss easy if they were beating you before.

62Battle Commander: Hachibushuu Shura no Heihou5.4 / 5.7425:37:04Arc System WorksSimulation JRPG Dec 29, 1991UnreleasedUnreleased1PThough touted as a Simulation game, it is more akin to a RTS. This is the second RTS on the SNES, and is fairly fascinating for what it achieves, and the complexity it employs. You can customize your soldiers with various items/weapons/abilities, and you have to keep them happy by paying them lest they ditch your army. There are various other things to keep in mind. The experience is rather methodical and the pacing is on the slower side, with most missions being identical in objectives, and the gameplay falling into a repeated formula that feels more pronounced here than other games within this genre, but the game is not too shabby and quite enjoyable.

63SimEarth: The Living Planet5313:59:42Tomcat SystemSimulationDec 29, 1991Feb ??, 1993Unreleased1PSimEarth goes for the educational approach but leaves nearly everything unexplained in game outside of its dictionary menu which is very informative regarding real world applications of said discussion topics as opposed to their in game works. So I relied heavily on this games manual in order to understand what the heck I was doing or looking at. Speaking of which, that's essentially what you will be doing with this game. Once you know how to play it, you just spend your money doing about 5 actions and then you look at it. It's a sim game and has a lot of waiting. I preferred Sim City to this game personally though this game has some nicer features over Sim City.

64Home Alone2.421:09:42ImagineeringAction / ArcadeAug 11, 1992Dec 30, 1991??? ??, 1992A very low quality movie game. At the very least, it isn't horrendously unplayable. There was clearly no love put into this product though, just a movie cash in to the letter with very basic gameplay of fetching random shit throughout the house to stash it in the basement vault. Thankfully it is very simple with only 4 levels so this experience doesn't last long.

65Super Adventure Island / Takahashi Meijin no Daibōken Jima6.852:32:05Produce!Action / PlatformerJan 11, 1992Apr 1, 1992Nov 19, 1992This game follows its formula well but seems to have subtracted some fun features. There are no dinosaur pets to ride in this game unlike in previous titles, and it only has two weapons. It also feels overall too short and basic. The game has a wonderful personality and animation that is fun to observe. The gameplay itself lacks in substance, and I don't have a desire to revisit this game in the future. I feel as though I have seen and done everything it has to offer.

66Dragon Ball Z: Legend of the Super Saiyan / Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu6.9723:04:20ToseJRPGJan 25, 1992UnreleasedUnreleased1PThe first DBZ game on the SNES is a very challenging RPG to play blind. It follows the start of the show through defeating Freeza and while I am not very familiar with the show, it seems to be very faithful. The enemy encounter rate is aggressively high, and knowing what to do is not always clear, with a couple of questionable spots that gave me a lot of trouble. I think this game is pretty cool though, with fun visuals and gameplay using a unique combat system that keeps things challenging (Although, extremely random.) It also has some choice and decision making that actually impacts the game to a degree which is a first for the system.

67Romancing SaGa9.1535:26:12SquareJRPGJan 28, 1992UnreleasedUnreleasedYes [V]1PAn open world RPG where you can customize your characters to be however you desire. You are capable of freely exploring and doing things in any order you wish. With 8 main characters to follow their different stories, and many more to pick up for your party, this game threw linearity out the window and provided the player options. With a huge world that has unique dungeon designs all throughout it as well. The largest flaw this game has is the obscene amount of (not exactly random.) encounters that you have to go through. I appreciate seeing the enemies on the field as opposed to random battles but the sheer volume of them is in excess. This game boasts an excellent soundtrack as well, though an additional battle theme or two would have been appreciated.

68Soul Blazer / Soul Blader7.837:40:24QuintetAction / JRPGJan 31, 1992Aug ??, 1992Jan 27, 19941PA fairly stylish top down action game with slight rpg elements. With very smooth gameplay and a fun though somewhat repetitive formula of clearing out monster spawners to revive the destroyed world. Soul Blazer is a worth while experience that provides some solid fun for the short while it lasts. It isn't very challenging so it makes an excellent game for newer players I think.

69Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes / Dragon Slayer: Eiyuu Densetsu6.1314:16:29FalcomJRPGFeb 14, 1992UnreleasedUnreleased1PDragon Slayer does some things well but mostly sticks to the tried and true jrpg formula without deviating to far. You have a solid traditional jrpg system in place but the actual number crunching leads the game to be very easy. The games world is somewhat unexciting to explore as a lot of the towns and environments are identical throughout. The story though, can be interesting if you appreciate the creative craziness that is going on. Otherwise it is your typical save the world fare and thats quite alright. Now I know this is a Japanese title but I have played the English PC engine version so I am not splitting any ratings. The two versions are essentially identical as far as I can tell outside of technical differences in graphical fidelity and sound.

70F1 ROC: Race of Champions / Exhaust Heat4.624:16:23SetaRacingFeb 21, 1992Sep 1, 1992??? ??, 1992a Formula 1 racing simulator. Upon starting a grand prix, you aim to be the best through points earned by placement on various tracks. There are actually a good amount of tracks to race on which is pretty cool but thats the most this game has going for it. The gameplay itself is fairly plain and basic in execution while not being much to look at either. A little practice with track memorization and making sure you use those special tires among better car parts will have you winning in no time. The game doesn't appear to have an actual end as you can infinitely do a new grand prix, keeping your upgraded car and money.

71Bulls vs. Blazers and the NBA Playoffs / NBA Pro Basketball: Bulls vs Blazers4.834:11:19Electronic ArtsSportsFeb 26, 1992Dec 1, 1992??? ??, 1992The first proper basketball game for the system, and it does show. The game seems to run at a constant slower pace that takes some getting used to. I am still not certain if it is intentionally at that speed or if it is perpetually lagging. Along with the pacing, I would say the game is decently fun but rough around all of its edges. The systems at play are either cryptic or poor. Getting near any opposing player will likely result in a foul just because (charging.) The ai's only defense is to stand directly in front of you and try to slow you down, which they will because your players get stuck when colliding. The game is fairly easy, and it has an abuse-able sweet spot location where 3 pointers seem extremely likely to succeed. Presentation wise, the game is not the prettiest to observe.

72Contra III: The Alien Wars / Super Probotector: Alien Rebels / Contra Spirits8.41012:11:41KonamiAction / Side ScrollerFeb 28, 1992Apr 6, 1992Nov 19, 1992Contra can be summed up as essentially being a high energy action movie turned into a proper video game. Each of the 6 stages though short has very stand out set pieces that provide a lot of fun all the way through. It is simple but effective in its design. I do wish the devs would let you earn credits on normal mode, but Contra III here joins its brethren of the "Beat Hard or GTFO gamer!" as the only way to earn the games credits is to get that hard mode glory. This makes the game very challenging. Minimum RNG means you can learn good strategies and find consistent success. That level 5 boss sure made me dizzy though.

73The Rocketeer2.220:55:10NovaLogicAction / Racing / ShooterFeb 28, 1992May 1, 1992UnreleasedThis is a superhero/movie/comic game and while it does follow the comic it doesn't really earn any brownie points for doing so. This game comes across as fairly amateur. You have 4 different types of gameplay featured here, a weird racer that is semi confusing but does a neat depth trick I suppose. A lightgun shooter. A shmup. and then I don't know what exactly you would call the final portion, a 2d fighter? All of these sections have very basic gameplay for an extraordinarily short and rough experience. The digitized graphics do not do this game any favors, a lot of the environments are sort of like blurry photographs with little effort put into animating anything.

74Super Smash T.V.6.597:44:33Beam SoftwareTwin Stick ShooterMar 27, 1992Feb ??, 1992Feb 18, 1993Smash T.V. is a twin stick shooter arcade romp. Due to how the game is on the SNES with no sticks to speak of, your aiming is restricted to the 8 axis's around your character. All accomplished by pressing down the corresponding combination of buttons. With this scheme though you are encouraged to constantly maneuver around to make sure you are always hitting the mobs of enemies, and mobs you will face. The game is very challenging though relatively short. I saw myself improving after each attempt, but the game is somewhat cryptic and understanding certain things is not always clear.

This is a collection of technically 2 games that each have 3 different modes which is where the 6 comes from. The games are very basic but challenging, It was neat to experience just for the sake of experiencing snes history but isn't much to write about.

76Pit-Fighter0.972:03:12Atari Games / THQFightingUnreleasedMar 1, 1992??? ??, 1992I don't know what to say about this gem of a fighting game. It needed a lot more time and effort put into it for starters. I don't think the game was very fun, but it is an excellent choice to make someone that loses a bet play to suffer a bit! TY seemed by far the best character I think despite the introductory handicap. This game is pretty unfair and horrendous to play but there are very specific things you can do to succeed against each opponent. I really want to know what these developers were doing though, I would love to hear their stories with this game.

77PGA Tour Golf6.327:42:09PolygamesSportsJuly 3, 1992Mar 1, 1992??? ??, 1992Pretty cool golfing game for the overall package you get and fundamentally a stronger game than HAL's or any other golfing games to date. However, I do take issue with the control scheme. Specifically how curve shots work in this title, which makes the game unintentionally frustrating. The game is not much to look at, or listen to as well. I think this is an excellent pick up for golfing enthusiasts and an okay one for anyone else that wants to play a golfing game, especially with its 4 player multiplayer for the tournament mode and variety of 4 golf courses with 18 unique holes each. Though as expected, you can succeed with similar strategies if you can get past the insane amount of curve on the swing for failing to hit the dead center 0. I rated the difficulty a 2 because the game is a cinch to play, and I believe with more practice I could win the tournament mode. You only have to maintain a par or birdie ratio and the highest I saw the ai score was -12 over the entire tournament which is 72 holes.

78Super Birdie Rush7.2 / 7.027:46:59Data EastSportsMar 6, 1992UnreleasedUnreleasedI essentially feel mostly identical to this game as I did PGA Tour Golf. This is a pretty good golfing game. Now I think it looks better and plays better than PGA but it has far less hole / course variety as well as far less options in how to hit your ball. In all honesty, this game rating wise is actually almost the same as PGA but it scores far higher on things like sound effects and music, giving it an edge over EA's title. Like with PGA, it is easy to play and seriously hard to master, thus the difficulty rating being low. It takes some practice to get used to the timing on the power meter for this game which does move fairly quickly. I will explain here, the split rating is for the theme/story. Though a sports title with the theme of golf and no traditional story, it does have commentary and since they speak in Japanese, I can not properly rate that aspect.

79Otogirisō7.211:57:18ChunsoftSound NovelMar 7, 1992UnreleasedUnreleased1PA visual novel on the SNES is a neat thing to see. Now, I can't really comment on the game properly, as I do not understand the text, and there is no information online about the finer details outside of the intro sequence. Fundamentally as a game, I tried to weigh things slightly differently to be fair here. Game play wise, it is essentially a book, and selecting choices alone doesn't make for much of a game for example. Otogiriso felt like a solid experience. It has some mood setting music but the actual musical pieces were nothing less than a pleasure to have the chance to listen to. The overall production seems very good to me as far as responsiveness, and graphical fidelity which wasn't stellar but the large scale and realistic look are solid. I do question why many of the scenes couldn't show more. You would get shots of just the fridge and counter, or just the faucet, or just the bottom of a door, etc. For a "sound / graphic" novel style game, this seems like a worthwhile experience to me. Though it is short and is probably a pass for most non native speakers. The music is worth a listen though.

80The Addams Family7.743:56:03Ocean SoftwarePlatformerOct 23, 1992Mar 10, 1992??? ??, 1992This is a good platformer game, which came as a slight surprise to me. You have various rooms to choose from in the addams family's vast mansion to try and find your missing family. Each stage or area is a fairly lengthy ordeal of different and unique platforming challenges that all accrue to a final hallway that combines all of the different kinds of threats you had been facing up to that point before a boss fight. It is fairly fun, and I think overall done well though I did feel that the different area's seemed a little too large for what they were doing. Getting around did leave me feeling lost and unsure at times. But it was refreshing to see such longevity with a non rpg game, on top of actually challenging game play and interesting platforming.

81Cyber Spin / Shinseiki GPX: Cyber Formula6.456:34:22TakaraRacingMar 19, 1992Nov 1, 1992UnreleasedTop Down racer that provides an excellent sensation of speed, fun music to its tracks and each track does stand out on its own. The systems at play are nice for an arcade style experience and the difficulty is generous. You can fail as much as you like and just retry until you win. Some tracks are extremely long, and the strength of the overall game play is slightly hampered by the limited design space since you always drive towards the top of the screen. There is no multiplayer, so you do not get as much replay value with this one outside of trying to speedrun the best individual times.

82Final Fight Guy5.942:17:35CapcomBeat Em' UpMar 20, 1992June 1, 1994UnreleasedEssentially Final Fight only Cody is replaced entirely with Guy. Guy plays mostly similar to cody, though seems slightly superior in movement with a smaller hurt box for his attack. This game provides some new items to find such as 1 ups and temporary invulnerability. It also seemed to reduce the amount of score you need in order to gain yet more 1 ups. It appears slightly polished as well with crisper backgrounds. Overall, I think this iteration of final fight for the SNES is just a little bit more fun and spruced up, as well as being easier. Abigail is still an S tier bully.

83Xardion / Choukou Goukami Xardion5.422:50:11Asmik Ace EntertainmentAction PlatformerMar 20, 1992Apr ??, 1992UnreleasedXardion tries to utilize some neat ideas that we haven't seen before on the snes really. Such as having 3 characters you can change between at any time. It combines mild rpg elements with a level up system in an action platformer. Overall it has a neat premise and some interesting design choices but is held back by equally strange game design choices that is questionable at times. The entire game feels somewhat low quality all around. Still, I would say it makes for an interesting experience. Apparently Gainax helped with this games design in some fashion, so thats kind of neat.

84Desert Strike: Return to the Gulf7.667:42:28Visual ConceptsShooterMar 26, 1992Oct 1, 1992??? ??, 1992Pretty cool arcade style war game where MURICA goes out to liberate some oil and solve various other issues by blowing up stuff in your apache helicopter. Joking aside, this is supposed to be a serious gulf war scenario. The gameplay reminds me of Jackal for the nes, in which you can sum it up as destroying things and rescuing people. Only you are free to tackle objectives in nearly any order you desire with one exception. The game is fairly challenging, and takes some getting used to for finding success. If you are looking for a helicopter game, this one is not too shabby. I also find its history rather fascinating. This game was criticized for its material due to the proximity of its release rather immediately after desert storm actually occurred. It reportedly disturbed many people.

85Arcana / Card Master: Rimsalia(Rimusaria) no Fuuin / Seal of Cardmaster Arcana7.8314:42:53HAL LaboratoryDungeon Crawler, JRPGMar 27, 1992May 5, 1992UnreleasedArcana is a solid dungeon crawling rpg that feels like an early predecessor to something like etrian odyssey in terms of the raw mechanics at play. You go through various dungeons and slay monsters, trying to help the hero fill his fathers shoes as the last remaining card master. It is a fairly linear experience, short and not very challenging. Though should you game over, you do completely have to reload your save so it can be punishing. The simplicity is not a bad thing though. I think the game has a great and unique aesthetic as everything is portrayed as cards, so it is a treat to look at. This is a great entry game for players that are newer to gaming, or for anyone who is thinking about getting into old school dungeon crawlers, this has a strong anime aesthetic and solid jrpg basics that can bring someone into the genre.

86Battle Grand Prix5.893:52:46KIDRacingMar 27, 1992Apr 20, 1993UnreleasedBatle Grand Prix is cut from the same cloth as Cyber Spin. It does some things better and it does some things worse. It has a very small viewpoint, so you can't really see whats coming ahead. The tracks are relatively simple, though there are about 20 different tracks. These tracks do not have a lot of unique traits between them however. There is an excellent sensation of speed, but that combined with the fact you can see only about a foot in front of you means you have to really memorize the tracks in order to start to succeed, as your reaction time will most definitely be too slow to play well, you need to anticipate what is coming. You get a lot of free car customization, and it has multiplayer as well as no rubber banding, so it is a very high skill and rewarding game system. The poor view really holds this title back. It is also not much to look at.

87The Great Battle II: Last Fighter Twin6.921:58:24BanprestoBeat Em' UpMar 27, 1992UnreleasedUnreleasedAnother compati hero series game. This one is a not stellar but it is a decently fun beat em up title. I imagine most of these SD games are humorous, but this is the first one that has an actual translation for it that I have played, so I finally get to understand the humor better, such as the hero's flapping their arms ridiculously to move through space. The forumla is pretty simple and the game itself is generous with a password to save your progress every 2 levels. This is a good entry level game that also has an appealing aesthetic if you care about the Super Deformed art style. The enemy AI is extremely basic, and most bosses fall into patterns as well. I imagine this game is more fun with a second player to enjoy it with.

From our two protagonists being essentially mirror copies of Cody and Haggar, to the enemy types, moves, sounds, systems, it is essentially one and the same only not as fun and many things done somewhat worse off than its inspiration. It does have two player though which final fight on the SNES does not have. It isn't terrible by any means. Worth a go through if you enjoy the genre.

89Street Combat / Ranma ½: Chōnai Gekitōhen / Ranma ½: Neighborhood Combat Chapter4.5 / 5.732:40:40Opus Corporation / NCS CorporationFightingMar 27, 1992Apr ??, 1993UnreleasedA simple fighting game with no real theme to it for the American version. All of the AI's follow strict behaiviors so can be learned and then overcome. There is a 2p mode that does allow you to play as every character, so this game might be humorous for a few bouts. The overall quality is rather poor, and the port for whatever reason is worse than the original game, with the ai having a strangely faster reaction time among other small inconsistencies.

90Strike Gunner S.T.G. / Super Strike Gunner4.821:10:44AthenaShooterMar 27, 1992June ??, 1992Nov ??, 1992This is a below average shmup. It plays fairly well but is overly simple with basic enemy attacks and patterns. In fact, this game felt vaguely familiar. I can't remember which title it was exactly, but this game is borrowing extremely heavily from a previous game on the SNES. From the overall level design and story telling of heading out into space to get to the moon and then blow up the enemies base. From enemies and their attack types, and some other things as well. This game was borrowing a lot of things, but it performs fairly well and the weapons in this game are powerful and provide fun. This game also has 2 player.

91Super Batter Up / Super Famista7.133:51:03NamcoSportsMar 27, 1992Oct 1, 1992UnreleasedThis baseball sim is a quality one for sure. It has some low points in its visuals I think, but for an authentic baseball experience, this game provides quite a lot of realism with its game play, teams, and fields. The sound is really rather stellar, from the roar of the crowd and the authentic sounding baseball musical themes along with the voice work. The AI has some quirks to it that hamper the experience, such as them being capable of stealing bases flawlessly and that being an unpunishable tactic for them. Overall, this is one of the better baseball games on the system.

92Super Soccer Champ / Euro Football Champ / Hat Trick Hero5.220:58:21TaitoSportsMar 27, 1992June ??, 1992??? ??, 1992This is a very arcade feeling soccer game, as it should be. It has a neat aesthetic to it with the exception of awful or hilarious depending on your point of view portrait images. With unlimited retries, it is pretty easy to beat the single player. Few will look into this game for that though. It has some very clear weaknesses compared to the likes of super soccer. Though I prefer the perspective dramatically, it still has clear non symmetry with the top and bottom of the field. It is also strange getting the ball around as your players do not pass towards your other players directly. Fairly quirky, not awful. Could be fun with multiplayer for a few games but to me, just an average soccer game.

93Top Gear / Top Racer8.366:13:53Gremlin InteractiveRacingMar 27, 1992Apr 16, 1992Nov 19, 1992Yes [V]Stellar racing game, and the second best on the snes to date. It has challenging tracks. The drive (sorry, not sorry,) to learn them and improve at this game is pretty strong. With a fun soundtrack and two player as well. There are a lot of different courses that have 4 unique tracks each, you have a decent amount of variety to keep you interested. The game is somewhat customizable as well, with 4 different car options, manual or automatic gear shifting, and some control editing which is sort of a rarity up to this point. Even if you're not a racing fan, this is a worthwhile snes game to play.

94Magical Taruruuto-kun: Magic Adventure7.1 / 7.213:23:44Game Freak / Tooei PlatformerMar 28, 1992UnreleasedUnreleasedPretty cool little platformer game that has a mario brothers style overworld map for its stage selection. Interspersed on this map are lots of characters that challenge you to some mini games in order to progress, or they give you items / conversation. It is difficult for me to say for sure since the game is Japanese. The actual game play is very begginer friendly, or directed towards young children. You gain a lot of item power ups that do neat things. You spend your time eating Takoyaki balls (collecting coins ala mario) and sometimes those give you additional perks. Going through the world leads you to take down a very basic boss at the end. The bosses to me are the weakest part of this game, as they seemed like a tacked on idea rather than anything meaningful to challenge the player. With only 5 worlds, it is a short experience.

95WWF Super WrestleMania3.410:20:11Sculptured SoftwareSports / FightingApr 24, 1992Mar ??, 1992??? ?? 1992, This game was trickier for me to rate. I did not spend much time with the game, so I couldn't really learn much about it. It is overly simple, featuring just 3 modes that all equate to the same thing. You play out 1 match of either 1v1, 2v2, or 4v4, and you try to win. Then you can rematch or just exit. That's it. There is no ending, no real single player feature of substance like winning a belt or something, and nothing else to do. It features some famous wrestlers at the time so thats neat. The game, isn't really terrible if I am honest, but it isn't much to look at nor does it have much to do. It could be decent but compared to the other wrestling game I have played to date, this game is extremely lack luster. It might be fun with 2 players which it does have that going for it, but i'm not sure the game play is worth while overall.

96Aerobiz / Air Management: Ōzora ni Kakeru7.5312:28:06KoeiGrand StrategyApr 5, 1992Feb 2, 1993UnreleasedA very cool experience from Koei. With a unique theme driving the entire game play, if you enjoy this genre of video games then I think you will have a great time with Aerobiz. It allows up to 4 human players to go at it for becoming the most dominant and successful Air Travel Agency. The game maintains a lot of simplicity for its complex business management subject matter. I still don't wholly understand the best approach to many things or how certain things work but that comes with playing blind. The game isn't as strong of a looker but the overall package is pretty darn cool. The entire time I was pretty into what I was playing.

97Aerobiz Supersonic / Air Management II: Kōkū Ō wo Mezase7.7311:04:12KoeiGrand StrategyApr 2, 1993Aug 29, 1994UnreleasedThe sequel to Aerobiz. These games are similar in many ways. Supersonic is an upgraded rendition of Aerobiz that is slightly nicer and has more things to do but is overall the exact same game, reusing many of the same art assetts and icons making it easy to get into if you played the prior one, which is completely fine. I would say that supersonic is the go to version of the game for the slightly greater variety with its extra events and scenario's, as well as its slightly polished look. Both games are fantastic experiences though, and this one didn't really improve in many significant ways to bring its score up by a greater amount with my 10 aspect metric.

98Othello World6.8 / 7.01031:48:17DiceBoard GameApr 5, 1992UnreleasedUnreleasedOthello is a strategic game that will always remain with the greats like chess and what have you. This game features a strange though from what I can tell, humorous plot about restoring paintings and helping out the greater fairy tale universe by playing various fairy tale beings and creatures in othello and beating them. You have the intro bunny who tests you and then 4 areas of 5 characters each. You must clear 3 to move on from an area. Then you face off against an othello god, which according to my friend is apparently a homage to Hideshi Tamenori, a 7 time world champion of Othello. I don't normally do this, but since its such a cool homage, feel free to check out the final boss himself, at this link. https://othelloacademy.blogspot.com/2012/05/strongest-man-in-othello-history.html?fbclid=IwAR3tWf2_PrSJnSX4iLo1ZwyC9WdlB_Wa3En60QGk-4GTsc_bXvmBoFFLT38

99True Golf Classics: Pebble Beach Golf Links / Pebble Beach no Hotou4.111:00:31T&E SoftwareSportsApr 10, 1992Apr ??, 1992??? ??, 1992T&E returns once more with their third entry in their golf game series. I guess these games sold well. Essentially identical to the previous two, my opinions on this game remain the same. Insanely easy to "beat" or earn the credits in. Insanely hard to actually do well in if you care to. This is just the Pebble Beach version, the holes are rather drastically different in this one and the wind tends to be stronger because you are next to the ocean on this course, making it very challenging to play it well.
