“Rock Classroom”
To strengthen students' knowledge of geo-conservation, students will learn about common rocks and fossils in Hong Kong through participation in workshop and visiting outdoor exhibition feature zone "Rock Academy" and the Hong Kong Geopark Visitor Centre.

This activity comprises a workshop and a guided tour. After an introduction to rocks and fossils of Hong Kong at the workshop, students will visit Rock Academy, a large-scale outdoor exhibition of 28 rock specimens sourced from Hong Kong, and the Geopark Visitor Centre. This learning experience aims to enrich knowledge about Hong Kong’s geology and heighten geoconservation awareness.

Schools and organizations book in advance for participation on weekdays.

Participants will visit a series of control points marked on a map, and learn more about nature and the environment. Three routes of varying levels of difficuly are provided. Questions relating to nature conservation are also prepared as part of the experience for participants to learn more about nature and the environment.

Geopark Schools Program
(2022-2023)
The Geopark Schools Programme is a key education programme of Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark. Working closely with local schools, Hong Kong Geopark rolls out a wide range of science popularisation activities to inspire student's long-term interest in earth sciences, integrated with ecology and culture and to promote the concept of sustainable development.

Every successful participating school can make application to Hong Kong Geopark for up to 5 activities during the programme period, including not more than 2 school talks or workshops, 2 geopark land excursions and 1 geopark sea excursion.

The visit will be conducted by our experienced tour guides. Participants will visit the Nursery to understand various processes in seedling production, and have a chance to practice seedling propagation at the interactive demonstration areas. Through these activities, participants will learn more about seedling production and afforestation work in country parks, and thus increase their awareness and appreciation of nature.

The Centre is adjacent to Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park, which is situated in the northeastern waters of Hong Kong and home to a great variety of marine life.

The Centre comprises an exhibition hall, reception area and public toilet. The exhibition introduces Hong Kong's marine protected areas, precious marine ecological resources and the history of Hoi Ha. The Centre also provides useful information related to Hoi Ha and its surroundings.

The Centre aims at raising public awareness, knowledge and understanding of the function and management of marine parks, and to gather public support and action for marine conservation.
