Kevin & Wendy Loukes7/14/20257/16/2025We would like to request the record(s) that brought about the mandatory removal of our dock and the complaint that created the process to remove our dock. In July 2024 we received a letter from HRBR stating that we had until the end of the 2024 year to remove our dock from the water or risk losing our water permits #XXXXX and #XXXXX. SBL #XXX.X-X-XX and SBL XXX.X-X-XX. The reason, you are not allowed to share space with your neighbor in order to have a 5' wide dock and your dock needs to be 4'. With sharing we had 30' of frontage and put one dock in that, being able to share, would allow for the size dock we had, accommodating 3 joining water access permits. It provided a less congested space for everyone. This removal, while on one hand we understand the regulation but on the other hand we were not intruding on anyone's access and the dock was neat and safe. When we purchased this property we acquired an 80' long dock that started at 3' and ended with 5' wide. Our permits were renewed without question. That dock was falling apart and unsafe to access but that was not an issue for anyone. We have complied with all regulations and are compliant but do not understand that while we were asked to remove a dock that was over width why our neighbor is still allowed to have an 11' wide dock on a 10' access permit if sharing is not allowed. We would like to know what brought our dock into question that created such a disturbance.
