The variables are organized in single excel sheets. The names of the sheets are always variable-state combinations. For example: V1-1 means real gross domestic product for Baden-Wuerttemberg, V1-2 is real GDP for Bavaria and so on.

Gross value added is divided into 7 industries that represent the total economy and are in line with the production approach of calculating gross domestic product.

The industries follow the current classification of economic activities that the Federal Statistical Office applies: the German Classification of Economic Activities, Edition 2008.
