Collection development tool #2
2
3
This tool is built to go with Gail Santy's presentation titled "Collection management: future focused"
4
5
The principles laid out in this presentation are:
6
7
A larger collection is not necessarily a better collection
8
Collections are created to meet the needs of the community
9
The collection must remain relevant and useful to the library users
10
Analysis provides insight into collection age, strengths, and weaknesses
11
Best practices indicate an analysis should happen about every five years
12
13
This tool helps users easily analyze data from Report 2731
14
To use this spreadsheet, run report 2731 and paste the results into the tab titled "Collection data (2731)"
15
16
The "Basic" and "Enhanced" classifications described below are derived from Texas library standards
17
18
