| Name | Description | Effect | Details / Guide | Importance (1-10) | Difficulty (1-10)
| Animation Cancelled Attacking | d | Deal at least twice as much damage per second with no additional stamina cost with knives. | a | 10 | 7
| Avoiding Fall Damage with Furniture | Avoid fall damage by using a seat before hitting the ground. | Avoid Fall Damage | May be used if logging out/in to avoid fall damage is ever restricted. It is possible to place furniture prior to hitting the ground and then sitting to avoid damage from any fall. (Although still requires a workbench beforehand).
| Bare necessities | Players can find many items around their first spawn. | Raspberries, Mushrooms, Wood and Stone | Behind the Sacrificial Stones are always some Mushrooms and Raspberries. Also, players can find sticks for Wood and Stones inside and immediately surrounding the stone circle. | 8 | 1
| Barrel roll | Players can dodge many attacks by rolling. | dodging attacks | This can be used to dodge the AOE lightning attack of Eikthyr. | 10 | 4
| Boar spawn point | Boars spawn in large groups at their Runestone. | 4-6 Boars at once | There are Runestones that tell the player about Boars. Boars spawn in large groups of 4-6 at these Runestones. Also, Mushrooms tend to be adjacent to these Runestones. | 1 | 1
| Bonfires | No Greydwarfs | Greydwarfs are scared of fire and will run far away when you enlighten an area with a Bonfire. Players can use this tech to safely cut down Greydwarf Nests. Even fresh spawns will run away. | ? | 2
| Boss Sneak Attack | Getting an instant sneak attack on bosses | Kill bosses faster | Attacking a boss from the side or from behind as soon as they spawn will give a guaranteed sneak attack damage boost. Stand near where the sparkles gather to summon the boss and as soon as the model appears swing and get the damage boost. The health bar will instantly appear and take damage | 8 For Casual 10 for WR | `
| Bridging | using 2x2 wood floors to bridge | cross an area without boat | using the 2x2 wood floor you can place them on top of each other to build a stairway bridge as well as place crafting tables along the way. at a certain point it will eventually start to give way, but the process is slow enough where you can keep bridging off floating plateform pieces. Edit: This is the best way to get easy access to the Ashland. The large long rocks off the Ashland coast can be used as connection points between the bridgings, making it easier to access the Ashland mainland. | 6 | 3
| Burial Chamber Door Clip | Use the existing doors in Burial Chambers to perform a door clip. | Escape Burial Chamber dungeons, letting you fall for about 20-30 seconds in the direction of your choice. | Search for a door which is in a hallway such that there are long walls along both sides of the door. Open the door. Align the center of your head with the door handle and walk backwards into the wall, maintaining alignment. Close the door while still walking backwards. You should clip out of bounds; if not, try again. This glitch is somewhat inconsistent (~50% chance once you know what you're doing) and also may not work when holding items (sample size too small to verify). | 4 | 7
| Caging & roasting | Place Campfire + Walls around enemies with some wiggle room between walls to have their AI break. | Lock Enemies in place. And the effect of above. | Need around 5 Walls, minimum 3 to break AI for most entities. Most notably Elder. Most bosses will break anything in their path after some time, most notably Eikthyr, Bonemass and Moder (idk bout yagluth) | 10 | 7
| Chair Clipping | Using a chair close to a wall to clip through it | Clip through wall (i.e. Dungeon door) | Place a chair (not the stool) with the seating against the wall. Sit on it and get up and you will end up clip through the wall. Making it possible to gain access to Dungeons without the key. Works with almost every sitting object, the cheapest of which being the Sitting Log for 2 Core Wood. | 8 | 1
| Cleaving | faster gathering of resources and higher dps in a fight | Players can position themselves between targets (even trees), to attack multiple targets at the same time. For example, this can be used to cut down 3 trees at the same time. To hold their perfect position for the cleaving attack, players should not spam theirt attacks, but counter the forward movement of the attack animation between attacks. | 7 | 3
| Corpse run | After a player had died and picked up their corpse, they gain the Corpse Run buff for 50 seconds, which gives them huge and fast hp regen, making them almost invincible. Players can abuse this by dying on purpose and tanking a lot of damage afterwards. This seems to be a hidden information, as the game only tells you that the Rested buff gives the player -75 % stamina usage and resistance vs blunt, slash, and piece damage. | 10 | 2
| Damage Avoidance With Logging Out | Using logout to avoid damage/debuffs and reset stamina. | Avoid Damage/Debuffs/Reset Stamina | Logging out may be used to avoid damage from numerous things such as fire, poison, drowning and even fall damage. It will also reset your stamina bar to full which can be useful when swimming across large areas.
| Death Pocket | Take items from either a chest or grave(?) after dying to spawn with them. | Essentially teleport items to your bed or to spawn. | Prepare a chest or tombstone with the desired items you wish to take to your bed location or spawn and die just before performing the 'take all' or placing a desired item into your inventory. The easiest method I've discovered is preparing the /killme command in chat, hitting enter and clicking at close to the same time. Can also time the death with fire if needed. This is close to a frame perfect tech. This tech may be easier to perform in multiplayer depending on latency(?). Potential use is taking portal materials back to spawn with a boss trophy to obtain the buff and then portal back to where you died, or just 'fast travelling' back to a bed or spawn. | 7 | 9
| Deer Surfing | Jumping on the back of a swimming deer allows for controled movement | Allows you to cross a distance without a bat | Frieghten a deer so it runs into the ocean. Time your jump to land on its back. When on, be sure to be on the back half of the deer. You can move slightly left and right to direct the deer in the way you want it to go. Left to make deer go right and right to make deer go left , since it is trying to escape you. Deer don't tire so don't worry about it drowning. Must avoid all rocks, if the deer slightly touches the rock it will gain speed and buck you off in the middle of the water. Does not handle well in waves, big waves can knock you off. This can also be performed with boars and the use of a torch. | 2 | 6
| Door Clipping | Using a door to push yourself through the wall | Clip through a wall | 10 | /
| Dungeon Floor Clip | Clip out of the floor of Troll Caves and Burial Chambers. | Escape Burial Chamber and Troll Cave dungeons, letting you fall for about 20-30 seconds in the direction of your choice. | Place cooking station or a wood stack inside the entrance to a Troll Cave or Burial Chamber (the loading zone to leave). If it is placed at the correct height, you should clip through the ground. Due to the sharp incline of the stairs in a Sunken Crypt, I don't believe this glitch works in them. | 3 | 1
| Log Rolling | Run a fallen log into things | Big damage | Logs do a lot of damage when rolling, you can control the awy logs roll by running into them. Have seen upwards of 50 a hit. Half logs are easier to manuver verse full logs but seem to do less damage. The faster the log is rollign the more damage it will do. Rolling logs into a tree will eventually take it down, but takes awhile. Logs can be rolled into other fallen logs to breka them into their wood pieces for crafting, comepletely bypassing the need for an pugraded axe. Logs can not be used to break boulders or mine, despite how fast they are moving. | 4 | 2
| Motorboating | Using a cart and a karve together, you can make a motorboat. | Allows for rapid traversal of the oceans, regardless of wind conditions. | Place a Karve in the water. Remember that the rudder is at the rear of the boat. Next, place a wood wall and wood flooring such that you are able to build near the mast, at the front end of the boat. Place a cart such that driving section (front) is facing the back of the boat and the front of the cart is lightly clipping into the mast. Quickly destroy the flooring to drop the cart onto the boat. Use the cart, then hold fast to the mast. The cart should start pushing the boat, accelerating it rapidly. You can steer the boat by dropping the cart and adjusting the rudder (or in multiplayer just have one person dedicated to steering while the other powers the boat). The speed of a motorboat is roughly equivalent to that of a longship sailing with the wind. | 7 | 5
| Multiplayer Item Duplication | Duplicate the contents of N chests in a multiplayer world with N+1 players (including host) | Exponential duplication of any item | ? | 10 | 4
| Offensive campfires and stealth fire damage | Placing Campfires right infront or underneath enemies. | 6 ticks of 2 damage = 12 damage, OR 6 ticks of 8 damage= 48 (to unaware enemies) | Players can place Campfires around enemies to set them ablaze. When an enemy is unaware at the start of a tick, they will take drastically increased fire damage. Any further fire sources can refresh the duration and thereby cause devastating damage over time. This is also applicable to sneak attacking with fire arrows. This can be exploited to deal significant fire damage to bosses, especially Eikthyr/Elder. | 10 | 5
| Place Items in Dungeons | Dungeons (Burial Chambers, Troll Caves, etc.) prevent you from building. However, there are still some things you can build. | Build campfires, cooking stations, and wood stacks in dungeons. | Campfires, cooking stations, and wood stacks are the only three items you can build inside a dungeon. Luckily, none of these require a workbench to place. | 2 | 1
| Quick unequip | Using a hammer to unequip a held item will avoid the unequip animation. | Avoid unequip animation and slowdown | Equip and unequip the hammer when holding an item to perform a quick unequip, avoiding the animation and unnecessary slow down.
| Rested | Increased hp and stamina regeneration. | +50 % hp regen, +100 % stamina regen | The Rested buff is applied when the character stays sheltered and warm for a about 16 seconds. Players do not need to sleep in a bed in order to gain this buff. It will last longer depending on the Comfort level of your surroundings. 0 Comfort gives you a 7 minute buff, while putting down a Workbench and Campfire increases that buff to 11 minutes. The buff can be gained during daytime. A bed does not increase Comfort and is completely unnecessary for this buff. Players can exploit this by digging a tunnel into a mountain until they get the Sheltered status. When they feel warm for 17 seconds, they get the Rested buff. This could be achieved by placing down a campfire inside the tunnel. | 10 | 1
| Singleplayer Item Duplication | Duplicate the contents of one chest in a singleplayer world. Can technically be stacked with Multiplayer Item Duplication, but is probably not worthwile in most cases. | Exponential duplication of many items | Fill a chest with stuff to duplicate. Leave and rejoin the world (forces a save). Open the chest and take all. Without closing the chest, use task manager to kill the Valheim process. Restart the game and rejoin the world. You should have the contents of the chest in your inventory and the chest should contain its original contents. To achieve exponential (2^n) duplication, place items back in chest before performing glitch again. To duplicate more items at once, use a reinforced chest. | 10 | 2
| Skip intro | The introduction can be skipped. | saves X seconds of wait time (but no actual run time) | Right after starting the world with a new character for the first time, players can log out by pressing ESC and quickly reloading the world with their character. The character will skip the intro scene and spawn at the Sacrificial Stones. Keep in mind that this skips minor scouting of the map that players gain by flying into the map when not skipping the intro. | 1 | 1
| Sky Jumping | Upon clipping out of a dungeon, you can jump back down to the main area of the map. | Lets you use the height gained from the dungeon's location in the sky to gain distance across difficult terrain. | Right after starting the world with a new character for the first time, players can log out by pressing ESC and quickly reloading the world with their character. The character will skip the intro scene and spawn at the Sacrificial Stones. Keep in mind that this skips minor scouting of the map that players gain by flying into the map when not skipping the intro. | 6 | 5
| Sleep Chain | Sleep right after waking up | Skip multiple days, grow plants, get fermenter done | Right after waking up, interact with bed to sleep again. This can be done easily in Multiplayer if everyone spams E on the bed. Synch errors may prevent this as one would wake up later than the others. | 5 | 1
| Jumping out of bed triggers night/day cycle change and allows movement durring the cutscene | Free movement durring cutscene but blinded | Works easiest on solo runs, would take cordination with multiple runners. To perform begin layign down animation. Wait a brief moment, then spam jump until out of bed. Screen will continue to fade but you will be free. | 3 | 4
| A Torch can be used to do damage to small trees. | faster Wood gathering | Right after the start of the game, players can use their Torch to do more damage to small tress, thus gathering Wood more effectively than with bare hands. | 8 | 1
| Drag Mining | A troll with a club is a quick way to ore and unobtainable | Free stuff, minimal effort | Needs to be a troll with a club specifically. The down swing attack can break ores and trees laying on the ground in order to gather a resource that would normally take a longer time or impossible with current equipment. | 4 | 2
| Unequip weapons | Always unequip unused gear that has a movement speed debuff. | +5 % movement speed per unequipped item | Many items will give the player a stacking 5 % movement speed debuff. If a player forgets to unequip weapon and shield, he will suffer a 10 % movement speed loss. | 9 | 1
| Universal Dungeon Clip | Use a Sitting Log to perform a Chair Clip out of any dungeon. | Easily clip out of any dungeon. | Sitting Logs take 2 Core Wood to build and do not require a Workbench. They can be freely placed in dungeons. By placing one at an angle against a wall such that only a sliver of one of the seats is visible, then sitting in the seat, you can clip through the wall. | 5 | 2
| Unwarping | By using something which locks you in place, you can fail to go through a portal or dungeon entrance. | Lets you get inside of the teleportation trigger for dungeons, lets you discover land on the other side of a (somewhat nearby) portal without having to come back through. | Place an object with a sit or sleep option overlapping with the teleportation trigger you want to bypass. Sit or sleep and do not stand up until the transition screen is over. You should find yourself in your original position, still sitting or sleeping. It is worth noting that if the target destination is too far away (ex: a portal that is more than 2x render distance away), the object you are sitting or sleeping on will be culled and you will not unwarp. | 1 | 1
| Early Stone Portals and Ashlands | Using a Karve and 2x2 wood floors to bridge to the Ashland main land | Lets you portal everything! | Preparation: Karve, 2 Portals, one set up in your base and 150 wood. 1. On the map, get straight to the lowest available mainland in the middle, right before the Ashlands biome. 2. Wait for a good north wind and start sailing with the Hammer equipped, straight into the Ashlands. 3. If you reach the first of the large long rocks in front of the Ashlands coast, jump on it and start climbing up the rock. 4. Set up a workbench and start bridging to the next one. The best bridging method is to select one of the corners of a 2x2 wood floor and place the pieces diagonally; if so, you can run and build. Don't forget to place a new workbench at every new rock. 5. Repeat until you reach the Ashlands mainland. If you got to this point, congratulations, you have successfully entered the Ashlands mainland without the need of the Drakkar boat. 6. Now the most important part begins: finding a Putrid Hole, where you can find on average 3.5 Molten Cores (goal are 2 Molten Cores). Putrid Holes are also good to set up your portal. You can use the hoe to raise the ground around the entrance to build a small safe space to set up your portal. 7. The last thing you have to do is to get your hands on 30 Grausten. You find dropped Grausten mostly at all buildings in the Ashlands. At the end you should have 2 Molten Cores and 30 Grausten. And yes, only one Stone Portal is needed to portal everything from everywhere. | 8 | 9 - 10
