Lesson Plans5E Compatibility- Provides learning opportunities that engage students with hands on experiences and are formatted to the 5E instructional model.McGraw Hill Texas Science strategically and systemically incorporates the 5E Learning Model clearly and concisely into every lesson. The 5E Learning Model is used to help students build conceptual understanding as they explore phenomena and solve real-world problems.

Throughout each lesson, teachers will use a variety of multi-sensory resources (e.g., videos, simulations, images, narrative text, hands-on investigations) as they implement the 5E Model. During the Engage stage, videos, photos, and a Quick Launch activity are used to introduce phenomena to pique student interest, encourage questions, and reveal current understanding. The Explore stage provides students with common experiences as they conduct hands-on investigations to observe patterns, test variables, and understand relationships. Students use a variety of resources during the Explain stage to construct explanations for what they witnessed in the Explore stage. Resources, such as Virtual Field Trips, used in the Elaborate stage allow students to further explore concepts they learned in different contexts. The Evaluate stage was designed to help both students and teachers assess understanding using a variety of resources.

Lesson Planning Guides were built to give teachers ultimate flexibility in implementing the 5E Learning Model, allowing them to alter instruction to accommodate time constraints, different teaching styles, and the needs of diverse learners.
