Friday4:30R1R1General Notes:

NSDA has changed the rules governing the ways in which we are able to run our district tournament. The up/down method that we have traditionally used is no longer an option. This schedule is based on the current rules governing the scheduling of NSDA district tournaments.

The schedule is based on entries for the last two years. There is a chance that the schedule will need to undergo a mild rework based on entries, but the committee does not anticipate that being the case. We will do our best to edit this schedule to match what we believe will be necessary when we have entry numbers, but will send an email if that is necessary.

During the tournament, we will accelerate any rounds that can be accelerated without creating cross entry issues.

IE Notes:

IEs will have 3 prelims and advance to a final round if there are 8 or more entries in the event.

IE results will be tabulated solely on the 3 preliminary rounds if there are 7 or fewer total entries in the event.

Prelim rounds will have 1 judge, finals (when necessary) will have 3.

Debate Notes:

Debate will have 4 prelims advancing to a single elimination bracket. Entries with 0 or 1 losses will advance to elims. The first elim will likely end up being a partial. This means that 1 or more entries may recieve a bye in elim 1. Byes will be distributed to the top seed first, then second seed, etc., until the bracket is complete.

Elimination rounds will be held until National Qualifiers are determined. Since we are a Level 2 district, if there are between 4-29 entries we will not run the final round because both entries qualify to Nats. In the event there are 30 entries in a debate event the losers of the semifinal round will debate in a runoff to determine the qualifier. There is a possibility that there will only be 2 entries in an event with the required win-loss record; if this happens, there will not be elimination rounds in that event because both students will have already qualified.

According to NSDA rules, brackets cannot be broken in debate elims. Coaches of debaters in same school debates may either decide who advances without a debate or elect to hold a debate as normal.

Prelim rounds will have 1 judge, elims will have 3.

If there are debate events with only 4, they will be run in a Round Robin format.
