Member Participation, Image/Recruitment
To increase member participation, we surveyed membership with the focus of improving membership attendance at events. The results of the survey will be used to craft future events.
For the recruitment of officers, we are improving our communication to members including periodic newsletters and a LinkedIn page, so that they can see our activities and understand that by becoming an active member and officer, they can contribute to the betterment of the engineering profession through student engagement and professional development. Plus have fun too!
Identify people willing to serve in leadership/officer positions and increase the number and participation of members.
HQ has always been 100% supportive of GSMAC with respect to inquiries, IT issues, and any general assistance type tasks. Thank you!
Significantly improving communication with membership including the preparation and distribution of three newsletters (Fall, Spring and end of year), and the establishment and upkeep of a LinkedIn Group page. We also prepared a survey to membership (see Item 29)
Our goal is to increase the number and participation of membership and identify future leaders. Our bylaw goals are to support lifelong alumnus member involvement through hosting networking events and tours; sending a voting delegate to the TBP annual convention; assist nearby collegiate chapters; and provide opportunities for members to meet and discuss common interests.
We maintain a rolling calendar which includes EC meetings; membership drive; chapter events and required chapter activities such as annual dues and reports.
The EC, as a whole, feels that this was a very successful year with a full complement of officers; three significant events that were well attended and fun; and enhanced communications to members via newsletters, LinkedIn and emails.

Member Participation, Officer Participation, Image/Recruitment
Member participation was really scant - we averaged around 2-3 members who showed up to our socials (except for our Mentorship program that garnered a humongous, and surprising, 12 alumni member mentors). We're introducing diversity into our event choices and seeing what works and what doesn't, then building up on our strengths
Definitely have more member participation for our events. We've had a decent number of events this year, so having more people show up to them would be great!
Having opportunities/"places" for cross-chapter collaboration outside of those hosted and prompted by the Alumni Advisory Committee. I know it is difficult than having collegiate chapters collaborate since they are in close proximity, but maybe trying to strengthen ties between alumni chapters and having online/virtual mixers might be a good idea
Our mentorship program! We had a whopping 12 alumni member mentor signups and 23 collegiate student mentees from across 3 colleges (Stanford, Berkeley, and San Jose State)
Foster more alumni-collegiate chapter collaboration by assisting in any and all ways we can; strengthen our membership retention and participation; encourage officers to actively partake in event planning as well as developing the image of our chapter
Having contact information of collegiate chapter presidents in your area does wonders! We have had so many awesome communications and collaborative events with San Jose State and UC Davis, as well as had mentees recruited from Berkeley and Stanford! CSU SLO also invited us to their initiation! I would start by sending an email at the beginning of the academic year to all collegiate presidents introducing your chapter to them and they ways in which you can help them. For example, an in-person meeting I had with Stanford made me realize that they weren't even aware that they could initiate graduate students - and now I am happy that they know they can!

Member Participation, Communication with Members, Collaboration with Collegiate Chapters
We have a good group of dedicated members (mostly our officers) that are reliable and very helpful for events. However, we really struggle with participation from members outside of the 5 people that regularly attend.
I am hoping to have better lines of communication with the collegiate chapters. I think more collegiate-based events would improve alumni chapter attendance.
I created the first (hopefully annual) newletter that was sent out to all FRAC members. It was a goal that I set for myself from 2023 Convention and I am happy to say that I was able to make it happen. I hope that our post-poned Pi Day potluck tomorrow is also a good success.
I would like more alumni participation (outside of our dedicated 5 members) and to host more interactive events with collegiate chapters.
Having quarterly officer meetings to plan out 3 or 4 events at a time makes the load for planning events much more reasonable.

We struggled getting engagement with an outgoing set of mostly remote officers. We also had at least one officer who was so disengaged that they claim to have not know they were an officer. I'm focusing on only local officers, and having just a couple signature events a year that we can start to build brand equity around.
Quarterly events, attended by any non-officer.
We met and had chapter elections with 5+ more people than were running for office.
Reset our finances and secretarial work, since there's been a lot of turnover, including one Secretary-Treasurer who claims to be unaware of his prior officer positions. Having 2 events with non-officers in attendance.

The chapter membership rolls are effectively formed by the chapter officers alone, as recruitment of new members has been a challenge due to our chapter location and a lack of updated information on members relocating to the area. We are attempting to update rolls using information from headquarters as well as the undergraduate chapter at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

There's only one officer able to dedicate any time to the chapter.
Engage some alumni with the collegiate chapters, either as speakers or as advisors.
I wish we had email distribution and management (like MailChimp) through TBP as well as a chapter webpage on the TBP website—essential services that can survive leadership transition problems.
Finally establishing connections with the advisors of the local collegiate chapters.
Recruit new officers, recruit alumni to serve as advisors to the collegiate chapters.
None.
Something that has bothered me about trying to get a chapter going is the focus on by-laws. For me personally, I was involved in launching an engineering alumni organization and the emphasis by the academic administration that by-laws had to be in place before anything could happen just about killed the organization before it started. Fortunately, we overcame that, but it was deeply frustrating for the founding team which was filled with exceptionally committed alumni who wanted to do things for the university and its students. TBP is no ones priority. The emphasis in getting by-laws in place took energy and focus away from creating and organizing events. Then, once the by-laws were complete, hardly anyone actually approves them (we weren't meeting in person). I was sending follow up messages and making phone calls and even that wasn't enough. I wish TBP just gave all prospective chapters a basic set of by-laws and then challenged the new chapter to focus on making events happen. As I said, TBP is no ones priority. In the contacts I have had with alumni, the greatest interest is in helping students. Yet, reaching out to the student chapter presidents and their advisors to organize something, only one ever got back to me. Fortunately, I got to meet the presidents and advisors at the District Conference so maybe this year will be better for cultivating those relationships. But if TBP isn't a priority for the student chapter presidents, what is it for alumni? In my particular case, I had a transformation experience as a chapter president at the Convention. Without that, I don't know whether I'd keep trying.

Although we have been trying to hold regular events like every other month, we see <10 members attend. We have reached out to collegiate chapters but don't hear back. The DD has not helped us even though we have reached out.
We want to hold a greater variety of events and get the DD to help us connect with collegiate chapters.
It would be nice if they can help us engage with members.
Our greatest achievement is having Jenn join the eboard and host events. The chapter wasn't hosting events before her.
