USDF INTRODUCTORY LEVEL – TEST B
|Enter working trot rising.|
Halt through medium walk.
Salute - Proceed working trot rising.
|Straightness on centerline and in transitions; clear trot and walk rhythm.||4||4||normal mark would have been a 6 but clicking repeatedly , loses 2 points|
|2||C||Track left, working trot rising.||Balance and bend in turn.||6||6||rider has a double bounce in the posting, need to get leg under you thigh down and back and vertical, use the ball of the foot and go UP and post strongly , hands together and close together for softer connection|
|3||E||Circle left 20 meters, working trot rising.||Roundness and size of circle; clear trot rhythm and bend.||6.5||6.5||the higher you post and the longer you stay in the air the longer the horse has to extend its leg and cover ground, you must to UP and come down lightly focus on UP in the posting trot for impulsion, you are hovering and bouncing|
|4||Between K & A||Medium walk.||Willing and balanced transition; walk rhythm.||6||6||sit down clearly and lightly before asking for the walk, look where you are4 going and ask the horse to walk on...|
|5||F-E||Free walk.||Complete freedom to stretch neck forward and downward; clear walk rhythm, straightness on the diagonal; ground cover.||6||6||keep lower leg on and back and carry a short crop if needed to keep horse3 in front of the leg, then ask for stretch|
|6||E-H||Medium walk.||Willing and balanced transition; clear walk rhythm.||6||6||need energy and leg to be clearly back and against horses side for march in the walk|
|7||Between H & C||Working trot rising.||Willing and balanced transition; clear trot rhythm.||6||6||this is neither clearly posting nor sitting, a lot of hovering. Get UP off the saddle, you set the pace, do not follow the horse : the horse runs with you.. do not follow it. posting is like running... run with energy and keep the horse with you..|
|8||B||Circle right 20 meters, working trot rising.||Roundness and size of circle; clear trot rhythm and bend.||6.5||6.5||STAND ON YOUR FOOT/STIRRUP and GO UP.. think about being a piece of toast in a toaster and POP up.. you have two bounces while you are down.. post faster and higher... you are behind the motion of this horse and causing a drag on the tempo/imulsion|
Halt through medium walk. Salute.
|Straightness on centerline; willing, balanced transition and halt.||6.5||6.5||look at A behind you,, not on centerline by 1 meter|
Leave arena in free walk. Exit at A.
|1||Gaits||Freedom and regularity||7||7|
|2||Impulsion||Desire to move forward with suppleness of the back and steady tempo.||6||6||horse not receiving correct pushing/driving aids so is inactive|
|3||Submission||Acceptance of steady contact, attention, and confidence.||6.5||2||13||could be in rouncer connection but must pursue impulsion first|
|4||Rider’s Position and Seat||Keeping in balance with the horse||5.5||5.5||hollow over left, wide hands, thighs need to be down and back, has a double bounce|
|5||Rider’s Correct and Effective Use of the Aids||Correct bend and preparation of transitions||5.5||5.5||see above : drag on horse, needs rider balance and equitation for clearer aids|
|6||Geometry and Accuracy||Correct size and shape of circles and turns||6||6||to be more accurate with balanced aids|
|this is a lovely quiet horse but it is behind dragging aids today. rider must focus on balance and equitation . first correct the posting. consider carrying a short crop- to keep horse more correctly forward to correct aids, deal with collaspee over left rib cage, hands together and avoid leaning to turn. Keep going.. there is talent here.. just need to get a few things straightened out!|
