File editing and collaborationAllows for real-time co-authoring of your shared files (based on permission levels).Allows for real-time co-authoring of your shared files (based on permission levels).

One exception: Excel Spreadsheets. You can co-author spreadsheets using the online version of Excel only. E.g. There's Microsoft Excel Online and then there's the regular Microsoft Excel. If we both have access to the same spreadsheet and I open it in Excel Online, we can work on it together. But if I open that document in the regular version of Excel, then no one else can open it.

Group workSupports group work using Active Directory groups (e.g. Email Groups, DFS groups, etc.) You can use your existing groups (Active Directory or Email Groups) or create new groups using the steps below. (Counterintuitive, but groups created in Office 365 can be used in both OneDrive and Google Drive, however groups created in Google Drive are not used due to technical reasons.)

Microsoft Office CompatibilityCompatible with some caveats. Google Drive will store your Office documents without any issues. If you open an Office document from the Google Drive folder on your computer, it will open in the regular version of Office. However, if you open an Office document using the Google Drive web interface, Google Drive will convert it into a Google Document and you will have two versions of the document that are out of sync. In some cases with Word documents that have complicated formatting, the formatting will not transfer to the Google Document (but will remain in your original Office document, unless you delete it). Similarly, more complex Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations may lose features if converted into a Google document. Compatible, however Excel sheets cannot be open online and in the regular version of office at the same time. See note above under File Editing and Collaboration.
