The foundation of our school’s culture is built on the common values of showing respect, working responsibly, including everyone, and moving safely. Through the implementation of School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) at Howe Avenue Elementary, we will create and sustain a positive learning environment in which all students can succeed academically, socially and emotionally.The purpose of the School Leadership Team is to focus on the continuous improvement of teaching and learning and the quality of instruction. Work on safety plan at school and address safety issues (drills, evacuations, room safety, etc.) Incorporated district safety information.This team meets to discuss student concerns that teachers have recommended for a meeting.

At Howe Avenue, all students are creators and producers through digital literacy. Technology offers students an avenue to succeed as citizens in a global society in which information is growing at an incredible rate. Technology can improve communication, enhance thinking skills, make instruction more efficient and effective, and develop life skills critical to success. We believe that technology is a tool for learning that expands our instructional repertoire and is the vehicle that maximizes the capacity of all teachers and learners.5. Faculty Representatives shall: a. Be a constant and on-going liaison between the Representative Council and the Active members of the Faculty Unit; b. Serve as the official channel through which written communications and publications can be easily and quickly transmitted between the Association and the Active members; c. Represent the views and input of the Active membership of the Faculty in votes taken in the Representative Council, conducting frequent and regular polls of such membership for this purpose; and d. Perform such additional duties as adopted by the Executive Board or Representative Council.Plans staff events (potlucks, holiday parties, secret Santa, end of the year, etc.) They also recognize staff birthdays and hardships.No Excuses University Planning Committee meets once a month, looks at the 40 Next Steps, attends Leadership Meetings to share ideas and get staff feedback, present at Staff Meetings and fulfill NEU school requirements.

The Equity Team continuously examines barriers which limit access to programs and services at Howe Avenue Elementary and makes recommendations for expanding access for all populations.
