very nice indoor space and awesome patio, beautiful views. Tasting was expensive and wines weren't what I would've expected for that price of tasting but they were good and it is a beautiful space. Good amount of chill and awe.

small tasting room and not super scenic (though the drive is!) but the winemaker and his wife are very nice and the reds are fantastic! Great winemaking. 21+and no pets!

really good wines, 3 levels of elevation, winery is on the mid level. Cute indoor and outdoor space. Recommend!

winemaker tries to keep the wine as close to organic as possible but wines still feel familiar and are tasty. Natural, woodsy feel. Nice views and tasting room.

This place is closer to Richmond and was very busy- almost more of a restuarant than winery, but wine was decent. Good option for closer to city.

They are a newer winery and so the wine is made by James River Cellars. The tasting room is small and kind of outdoors so not super comfortable on a hot day. The staff was nice.

a VA classic. wines were on a dispenser and you received a card for your own self guided tasting. this may have changed since Covid.

pretty views, did a red flight which were drinkable but not too distinguishable. Kind of average winery, but pretty location.

drinkable wine, specialize in moscato which is not my fave, kind of hodge podge vibe inside, but great views outside

one of my faves! the owners are so nice and the wines are great! The winemaker is from Portugal so they have a lot of ports which I love!

Quality of wine may have changed since 2015, but there are better wineries out there. They had a lot of fruit and sweet wines which I am not a fan of.

talked with the owner and family who were very nice. They gave me free tastings! Owner is former military. There are some interesting grape varities and winemaker is same as Above Ground.

Modern vibes, wanted to like this more. Kind of fancy, had to do an indoor seated tasting like a restaurant atmsophere. I expected more from the wine.

I used to like this place but last time I went it was just okay. Vibes and wine had taken a turn. Did not love the indoor space last time I went.

The view and location are great, wine is okay. It's a newer winery, same wine maker as King Family. May get better with time. Decor is a little kitschy and servers were young

super modern, small space that is unlike other wineries around this area. Wines were pretty decent and server was very nice

been around since 90s, grow and make own wines. Owner/winemaker was very personable. Wine was good. Quaint but older decor, nice but not super scenic.

Garden Grove Urban Brewery and Winery

This place had amazing, amazing wines. The winemaker and owner takes great pride and skill in his wines and has been doing so since the 90s. The server was also super knowledgable. Great varietals and pretty setting. Another fave!

I'm biased cause I worked here but everything was pretty great last I was there recently and the indoor and outdoor space are still lovely!

I wanted to like this place more because the space is really cute and server was really nice. Wine wasn't really there for me, but pedit verdot was alright and their white blend. Chardonnay was undrinkable to me. The almond notes were weird and very forward.

I really liked the space and location. It's not out towards Cville, but close to Amelia county. Wines were okay. I talked to owner who is also winemaker and he was very friendly. A nice place to spend the day.

Hilltop Berry Farm and Meadery

If fruit wine and mead are your thing then check this out. I rolled up and there was nothing I was interested in drinking. No regular wines, just fruit (other than grapes)

I didn't love the wines, but I got a glass of the chardonnay and enjoyed the grounds. Server was very nice. Rustic vibes, but cute. Nice outdoor gathering space.

I mostly had whites and a rose I did not care for. I did the reserved tasting and liked the Chardonnays. It was decent and quaint, an older winery and property..

super cute spot, small but nice tasting room with lots of outer seating. nice view, and great wines! Definitely recommend!

didn't go inside winery as I was there for Renaissance Faire, but had some chard and a red and both were very drinkable. Would go back!

it is in a weird complex that makes it allusive in a way, not particularly scenic, and you need a code to enter the complex but that kind of adds to the character. You need an appointment for tastings, but it was a very personalized and good tasting!

wine was just okay. They do flights with wine from other wineries and also have a brewery. House and views were nice. Really push 3 locations which is weird since there is only one real winery.

2022, revisited 2024

wines weren't great, it is in a pretty area, though. Owner was very nice and there was a pairing of cheese and chocolates with wines. I enjoyed the cheese more than wine...

wines were drinkable- had a white Cab Franc for the first time which was interesting/good, very rustic feel

Winemaker is 88 and from Greece, does some very different styles of wines, but serves OLD vintages from like 2006 and 2008! Unique tasting experience though decor is outdated and kind of odd

Merrie Mill Farm and Vineyard

wines were ok, but pretty location. Better places out there. He makes the wines for a lot of wineries in the area though.

really different wines and quaint space. I enjoyed my tasting by the vine grower. He was very knowledgable and I had an enjoyable experience in the tasting room. A different but positive experience!

Portuguese style wines which were all really good. The decor outside is strange to me and not that scenic, but tasting room and wines are nice!

wanted to love this place cause space and views are amazing. Wine was bad. Maybe because it was later in the day. Server also wasn't very knowledgable and not many varietals for an older winery.

Google took me on a journey cause this property is large apparently and there are a lot of private entrances. This place is way fancier than expected. Server was nice to let me sample some wines but they don't do standard tastings. It's like a restaurant almost. Wines were good, especially the whites and sparklings.
