39 | To anyone that knew Erin years ago, it would be quite a surprise to see the woman she turned out to be. Born in Lavaridge to an ex-Magma member that wanted a new life after the fall of the cult and his wife, Erin was actually quite a cheerful child growing up. She seemed happy with her life, always fun loving and eager to play with her peers. She was sociable and such a sweet girl. Everything seemed to be quite good for the Blythe family, her father finally having the stable life that he wanted after leaving Team Magma, as well as what seemed to be just the perfect little girl. Of course, things had to have changed after that point. For little Erin, just eight or nine at the time, she and her friends were playing on the Jagged Path, a place that they very much should not have been. But the day of fun and playful whimsy turned rather tragic when the group heard howling in near them at all sides. A family of poochyena, all lead by their mother Mightyena appeared, looking for a dinner and the group of kids seemed rather appetizing. Many were scared, some to the point of freezing up, and this included Erin. Never before had she felt so helpless and without power, completely at the mercy of the approaching Pokemon. While the other kids ran, Erin stayed frozen, unable to move and cowering for her life. The poochyenas pounced, some biting her with their sharp teeth and others ramming into her and clawing at her. She almost thought it was the end before a large blast of fire caused them to free from the girl's injured form, crying softly as she was almost scared to death. Her father had saved her, cradling the body of his only child with sorrow. While she may have been okay, the damage was already done, a large scar being apparent running down from her forehead to between her eyes and the feeling of being weak now firmly inside of her, gnawing away at what she was to allow something new to be born. She wanted to become strong like she never had before, urging her father to begin teaching her to no longer be the little girl that she was, but to be someone that wouldn't need to rely on others. To be able to fight on her own to never be helpless. She never did have the physical prowess to become a fighter, but perhaps one thing she did inheret from her parents was to train Pokemon. Ensuring to train her Pokemon to be perfect in any fight that may come, she worked herself hard to master herself and perfect her style. Through firey determination, absolute focus, and domineering brutality, Erin is a trainer with the mentality of defeating the enemy before they even have a chance at retaliating. Now chosen for the regional Beginner's Tournament, her training had finally paid off quite a bit. But it still wasn't enough for the young woman. She needed to go further than anyone could ever, partially to make her father proud of what she's becoming, but also to prove to everyone - including herself - that she is no longer the weak girl that she used to be. Perhaps nobody else cares about how strong or weak she is other than her, but until she's able to convince herself, she'll never be content. And even then, perhaps she won't be happy until she realizes that's not truly what she wants... | ||||||||||||
