This information was derived from Iowa's certificate of live birth for calendar years 2020 through 2024. It is based on births that occurred in Iowa, regardless of the mothers' residence. Home births are excluded from this report. Facilities that closed from 2020 through 2024 are also excluded from this report. Those facilities had not participated in the updated level of care assessment. Maternal level of care and newborn level of care are scored separately and reported for each facility. In this report "M" refers to maternal level of care and "N" refers to newborn level of care. Open Record A25-231

ICAN of Central Iowa Chapter Leader, Rachel Bruns, requested this data and received it in April 2025. The state provided columns A through E. We then calculated columns F through H. The VBAC rate calculation is per the March of Dimes "The VBAC rate is calculated as the number of VBAC deliveries resulting in a live birth divided by the sum of VBAC and repeat Cesarean deliveries, multiplied by 100."
