LG40"LED2019LC-40LB601UTime Sleueth46ms/75ms15/30ms Middle15/30ms Middle15/30ms MiddleThis 1080p RokuTV from Best Buy has a bug in the firmware similar to RTing's review of the 2019 TCL 325 1080p series where Game Mode doesn't engage or disengage properly. If you switch resolutions/inputs or restart the TV with Game Mode enabled then it works and you get 15ms input lag readings. If you go back to the home menu and back into the HDMI input, it returns to non-game mode even though it is enabled. And you will get 30ms of lag instead. 75ms with interlaced resolutions. Using an HDMI switch and cycling back to your desired input seems to fix it.

Time Sleuth needed to be partially covered to receive valid readings. 480i lag is quite hard to believe as the TV applies motion-adaptive deinterlacing at all times. Lag numbers are consistent no matter the aspect ratio. TV has major judder above 60Hz (except above 1080p) and is prone to flicker-induced image retention; use of any interlaced content or games with flickering visual elements is discouraged.

Tested in Game Mode with Local Dimming off. Turning Local Dimming on seems to drastically decrease lag measurments, but that cannot be accurate. Lag in 1080p with Local Dimming on lowers to 4.7ms, with it off lag hovers at 12ms. I believe it has something to do with the chagning of the monitor brightness as the white boxes flash that alters the reading. 12ms seems more accurate based on other measuments available online in reviews of the television. A nice positive for this set is how uniform lag appears to be across all progressive resolutions.

Unit tested highly prone to image retention on flickering visuals like bob deinterlacing from an OSSC.

This TV has inconsistent lag, increasing to 25ms at the top of the screen when turning Game mode off and back on again, and sometimes at random (lag increases even further to 58ms with Normal picture size, but is otherwise consistent at both 4:3 and 16:9). TV has screen tearing in Game mode at 480p and 720p (lag increases to 25ms if no tearing is visible, however the initial workaround of cycling Game mode or picture size is broken as of firmware 10.5.0) and tends to judder quite horribly with non-standard refresh rates. Scaling is awkward; if the TV detects a PC input or an input has its icon set to Computer, the scaling changes to nearest neighbor scaling at 1080p while all resolutions below that are first bicubic scaled to 1080p before being nearest-neighbor scaled to 4K (normal scaling is noticeably softer). TV is immune to image retention from flickering visuals.
