Some of the levels are a bit confusing at first which can get frustrating due to the time limit constantly looming over you, but the chilled out constellation levels work as a nice change of pace from the challenge. Bonus points for the iconic soundtrack. Thumps up.Part 1-2

I just couldn't fully get into it because of the combat which was pretty challenging for me even on Easy. I could see this game being very rewarding to master for the true gamers that can handle it.

The gameplay features some of the worst gunplay I've ever experienced and every mission just devolves into a cacophony of gunshots and the same three voicelines of the specific type of goon that inhabit any given area, who can melt your health bar in a matter of seconds. Gotta give credit for the illest game over screen in any game though.Part 1-4

The levels and music aren't very inspired and the game gets repetitive but it's short enough where it's not much of an issue. I've always been curious about these Japan exclusive Ape Escape games so it was nice to finally try one out.

The game gets better when you meet Aragorn cause he has a cool voice and you get to kick dudes to the ground as him.

The arcade mode is very short at only four levels and there's an inexplicable difficulty spike on the third one but it's a great time all the way through and I can definitely see myself playing through it again every now and then.

The second Babylon Garden level definitely reminds you you're playing a Sonic game, it even made me cry when I played this as a kid, but it's not nearly as difficult as I remembered. I wish Shadow and Rouge appeared in story mode but we got Wave in this game so it's not all bad.

Not quite as aesthetically distinct as the first game, couple of the levels feel a bit drab and some of the new gadgets are way too situational, but I'd say the overall package is an improvement and it's a joy to play from beginning to end. I went for 100% completion which meant I had to grind for money to feed my gacha addiction but I love all the little fables and comics you get as a reward, not to mention the great minigames. Let's play Monkey Football!

The gameplay is pretty dull, fighting the same enemies over and over gets very boring. At least after I found the infinite combo to trump every boss with ease I got through the game pretty quick.

Exploring the world not knowing what kind of strange creatures and events you'll encounter next evokes a real childlike wonder, and having to spend what little money you earn on train tickets and various items for quests really puts you in the shoes of a poor kid in a quaint new town. The townsfolk have a lot of character thanks to their expressive designs and unique Banjo-Kazooie gibberish voices. There's a lot of atmosphere in the lighting and sound design, my favourite bit being the Cupcakke-ass moaning crows you hear every evening.

Having to adhere to a real-time daily schedule makes the game more immersive but it also means you often have to wait hours of in-game time to meet a character at a specific point in their routine. The game also tells you very little and you will need to continuously check the manual to know what to do next, but even with a guide in hand a lot of the quests are way too convoluted. This isn't helped by how punishing the game is, the kiss opportunities for some of the underground dwellers are insanely short and even a small mistake can lead to a death which can sometimes mean having to redo an unreasonable amount of progress. I reached my breaking point in the factory level and had to start save state scumming 'cause there's only so many times I can do the company tour, find the lazy guard, hide, get on the train and put in the station number just to miss Mecha-Yodzilla's viva by 0.2 seconds. And if not the factory, the final challenge surely would've done it.

Definitely a good game, not one I'm likely to revisit but one I'll remember fondly.

There's only a handful of minigames and while they at least try to utilize mechanics from the main series, they're just tedious to play and you have to do each one way too many times throughout the campaign. The boss fights are insanely boring and take way too long to beat with the exception of the final boss which I actually found pretty engaging. Unsurprisingly, the music is pretty good, and the character-specific intermission cutscenes are very charming. Probably a better game with two players.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Zero28.11.202403.12.202421:21RNG7Cool vibes, fun tunes and fast cars! The gameplay loop of driving around and challenging thugs from various gangs to street races is surprisingly simple and addictive. Having no story or dialogue to interrupt the pacing makes it very easy to just chill out and lose yourself in the game while chipping away at the available encounters, getting challenged by gang leaders and unlocking new areas of the map.
Upgrading your car with better parts and being able to take down even speedier goons is very satisfying but it's kinda hard to tell which upgrades and new cars are the best or how to tune them effectively. Maybe if you're a car guy or just more familiar with racing games it's more apparent but I was mostly flying blind. Great game though.

LEGO Racers 209.12.202409.12.202404:28RNG3Pretty lousy kart racer where you drive around uninspired environments and use largely useless items on your foes while at any moment the game can decide to make your car spin out and throw you in the drink.
It took me getting stuck on the ice golem boss and looking up strategies to find out you can get car upgrades by playing minigames you can find when exploring the levels. Most of the game was already very easy but after getting a couple engine upgrades the rest was trivial, which makes sense for a kids' game.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 313.01.202514.01.202503:17Cleo8The first Pro Skater was already revolutionary, and while Pro Skater 2 improved on it in pretty much every way, this is where they really started to perfect the gameplay. Some of the levels, namely Airport, still hold up perfectly against series best. The soundtrack is great too, though I wish they would've used one of the many other great songs by Motörhead and Ramones instead of the biggest hits but oh well.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 418.05.202523.05.202512:57Cleo9After Pro Skater 3 pretty much perfected the moment-to-moment gameplay, Pro Skater 4 had to switch things up on a grander scale, going from the run-based gameplay of old to big open levels with missions, minigames and collectables scattered all around. Not all the missions are winners but the updated gameplay structure lets you play at your own pace, doing missions, focusing on collectables, or just chilling and skating around for fun. Great levels, banging soundtrack, and fun secrets and unlocks to boot!
