We Need You! History Museum School Program VolunteersThe Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is looking for enthusiastic volunteers who enjoy working with 2nd through 5th grade students. Volunteers are trained to lead 25 minute stations that engage students in the museum exhibits and collections. Aligned with the Colorado Department of Education's Social Studies academic standards and utilizes best practices in museum education. Must complete a CSPM volunteer application, participate in a phone screening and interview, and pass a background check. We require that volunteers commit to a minimum of four months of service. All school program volunteers are required to attend training sessions 2 times a year, but most training will take place shadowing and co-leading programs. Ideally, school program volunteers will have some experience in leading lessons/activities for elementary-aged students.Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum

Garden of the Gods Information SpecialistMain duties will include greeting visitors, fielding questions, orientating visitors to the Park, its natural and cultural resources, the rules and regulations, available programs, and distributing park maps while ensuring a high quality experience.

Ongoing training will be available throughout the year along with educational resources being available to expand their knowledge base. Successful volunteers tend to be outgoing, approachable, and possess excellent customer service skills.

All volunteers are required to register online as a City of Colorado Springs Volunteer which requires submitting to a background check. Volunteers also enjoy a free one-year membership to Friends of Garden of the Gods (FOGG) and a 25% discount on food and merchandise inside the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center. Volunteers must also acquire their own volunteer shirt ($15.00) with free shirts available for those in need.

Garden of the Gods Exhibit Hall SpecialistExhibit Hall Docents engage visitors in exploring the various exhibit halls and exhibits inside the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center through exhibit interpretation, exciting hands-on exhibits and demonstrations. Exhibit Hall Docents will be responsible for greeting visitors, fielding questions and ensuring a high quality experience. Docents may choose the Exhibit Hall in which they wish to volunteer and will be trained in introductory information about each area.
