Sections 1118 of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) requires the involvement of parents of participating children in the design and implementation of Title I projects. NCPS Policy 1310/4002 requires every Principal to develop a Parent Engagement Plan as well. A local educational agency may receive funds under this part only if such agency implements programs, activities, and procedures for the involvement of parents in programs assisted under this part consistent with this section. 1Each school under this part shall convene an annual meeting at a convenient time, to which all parents of participating children shall be invited and encouraged to attend to inform parents of their school’s participation in Title I (if applicable) and the right of the parents to be involved. SNHS's Open House was held on Thursday, August 7th, 2025. A freshman orientation was provided from 5:00-5:45 PM, where Dr. Scott gave pertinent information for those students transitioning from middle school to high school. This event was open for all grade levels and their parents to come and learn more about this school year.

2Each school shall offer a flexible number of meetings, such as meetings in the morning or evening, and may provide, with Title I or Local funds, transportation, child care, or home visits, as such services relate to parental involvement. SNHS will host the Trunk or Treat event in October of 2025. We will also host a volleyball game to support and give more information on mental health later in the fall of 2025.

We have a parent representative that has requested to step down, so we are looking for another parent rep to serve on our leadership team. Parents receive communication from the administration on a weekly basis with important details of school schedules, parent/student opportunities, events, athletics, etc. When there are opportunties for parent volunteering, we share that information with our parents so they will know how to sign up.

Parents are provided with student progress (report cards/progress reports) in a timely manner. They are able to communicate with their child's teacher via Class Dojo, email, phone, etc. to find out more details if necessary.

Parents are encouraged to set up conferences with teachers and other stakeholders concerning their child's academic performance. Parents are also involved in creation of ILP, 504, ESL, IEP, and other learning plans for students who are experiencing academic challenges.

There is a position on the Leadership Team for a parent representative to express concerns. At this time, we do not have a parent representative and we are currently looking for one. However, by having a parent representative, this allows for the parent to share their concerns on behalf of their own child, or other children at SNHS.

At parent information nights, parents are provided with resources based on our school imporvement plan and school needs. Parents are also given access to their child's Infinite Campus account so they can see their progress with grades, any missing assignments, and other information that is shared between the students and the teachers.

10LEAs and schools are required to establish communication protocols that identify communication methods and timeline expectations for responding to communication requests shared with teachers, parents, pupil services personnel, principals, and other staff. Appropriate training is provided as needed.

Parents have access to administrators and teachers by making contact via phone, email, or sending a message through Class Dojo. It is the expectation that all staff respond to a parent within a 24 hour time frame, if not before. Communication is also shared by the automated messages shared by the principal weekly.

Counselors assist in the process of transitoning students from middle to high school by sharing pertinent information with them. They explain to them the process of how their child can register for classes, as well as keeping them up to date with what is needed to graduate.

Students and parents will receive resources and instructions in English and Spanish from the school and the county. They receive translation services whenever we have parent informational/curriculum nights at school. Also, when Dr. Scott completes his automated messages, he makes sure that it is written and spoken in Spanish.
