Notes These are for Iowa educators with a valid Iowa license seeking a license in this state. This document is applicable only to the four identified programs, elementary (ELEM), secondary (SEC), special education (SPED), and early childhood (ECE), and not specific endorsements. Most states on this list are part of the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement and offer full reciprocity of teaching licenses. In general, you are to complete the state’s teaching license application and submit copies of official transcripts, your current teaching license, and documentation of any teaching experience you have. Agencies are NOT allowed to share FBI background check information, so new fingerprint copies must be submitted with the new application. Also check The Interstate Teacher Mobility Compact. Please know that the information listed below was what was available on the state licensing webpage at the time this document was reviewed. There may be additional requirements embedded in the application and/or its procedure. All state require background checks that will need to be completed. This template is a collaboration of Iowa Higher Education Institutions to help colleges and universities complete licensure research and organize their findings. Depending on the type of license/program being researched, additional factors may need to be considered and researched, or some of these columns may not be applicable. The information provided does not, and is not intended to, constitute legal advice; instead, all information, content, and materials provided are for general informational purposes only. Risks to the university and students should be considered and evaluated with university legal counsel prior to disclosing licensure information.
