Boots are tight around ankles so needed to leave middle buckle unhooked and top buckle hooked but not set. Also, her hands got cold so used heat packs
Stu Pendleton
Halle had skied with a slider 15 years ago at Ski Apache but she picked back up very quickly and was very confident on the lift and slopes after 4 runs.
Continue to work on keeping skies together in slider, initiating turns learning wedge to stop.
No I would continue to use the slider and and riding the Quad.

Gained more confidence by repeating the same run 3 times which helped overcome fear of falling on steeper runs. Also, worked on left turns.

Boots are tight on shin and she is sensitive to pressure so left top buckles undone
Barry Buden
Today was a little difficult for her as we tried to gain speed on Midway. She got too far sideways and the ski on the slider popped off on one run, then on the last run she tumbled over sideways on lower midway. I think keeping the speed slower and encouraging her to stand tall will help as she tends to rely more on the slider and her upper body when the speed increases
Slow down and work on her using he lower body more than relying on the slider and her upper body for power

Used Jr slider which fit her well. Halle can communicate her needs very well and follows directions! Her dad David was very helpful!
Jackie Addis & John Renna
Able to get on & off lift with a stop and min assist. Halle was able to weight shift and initiate a turn. No falls! She had a fun day !
Continue with initiating turns with weight shifting

Slider, Summa Belt, Tethers, Used a Summa belt around Halle's thighs to the slider to help her stand up. Used a safety harness around her waist that in turn was secured to the chair to ensure she could not slide out under the safety bar.

1) we sent the slider up with another instructor so Halle could be fully secured to the chair lift without worrying about also securing the slider. She kept her skis on. we stopped the lift at the top, met her with the slider, then exited the lift offload area, 2)She has very sore and sensitive shins. We ended up NOT buckling the top two buckles of her four buckle boots. Given her skiing, it was not a problem, 3) She responded very well to being part of the turn, the run navigation. Encouraged her to look in the direction of her turns and use the hand grips to use arms/shoulders to help make the turn. Tetherer did most of the turning, but Halle felt like she was a big part of it.
Bill Hartman/John Malesovas
3 runs in am and 2 in afternoon two days in a row. Talk to her during the run. Have her involved.
1)Talk to her during the run. Have her involved. 2)Halle is concerned that her added weight is hurting her skiing. Her goal is to loose 20 lbs by her next skiing.
She has skied the slider for many, many years and enjoys it. She would see more of the mountain on a bi-ski, but she enjoys the slider as is.

She was able to initiate turns better after 2 days of skiing
I would evaluate her strength next year to verify that the slider still works for her. I would send the slider up ahead of her and secure her to the lift with a harness. I would also use the sumo belt wrapped around her and the slider to help her maintain and upright position

Watch for pressure on shins. I would pull up any long johns so that all she has is a sock between the boot and her shin. Leave the top two buckles undone. We used a harness to attach her to the left because if she starts sliding she cannot pull herself back. Stop the lift at the top and have the helper bring the slider up and walk down backwards with her in front of the slider. She needs a full stop at the bottom and the top. We also wrapped a sumo belt around her and the slider to pull her into the slider and keep her standing up right. She can barely initiate turns so most turns are controlled by the tethers. We used edgy wedgies for some of the runs but she seemed to do better without them. If you go up the quad, make sure they stop on flat ground and that you have at least one helper already there with skis off waiting for her with the slider. Also watch for fatigue. She communicates very well but it's important to constantly check in with her.
Turtle Dave, Doug, Barry, Richard, Mark at various times over 3 days
She has lost a considerable amount of weight so she has a little more control over her skis and her goal is to lose more weight for next year which should help her maneuver a little better.
Her main goal is to have fun in a safe environment. She does like to go up the quad but the longer run will also fatigue her more quickly.
