On another note, as done with many verses, John 3:16 was changed to John 3:16-18, so you almost
have to translate this verse out of it.

When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything.		The Message uses numerous sentences to dillute this simple statement. We are complete in Christ
and he is the head. On another note, horoscopes are banned earlier in the book

1 Corinthians 6:9-10Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the
kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators,
nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor
abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor
covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners,
shall inherit the kingdom of God. 		Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit
the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the
sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men
who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy,
nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the
kingdom of God.		Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the
kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor
idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor
swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.		Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the
kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually
immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex
with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor
slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.		Don’t you realize that this is not the way to live? Unjust people who don’t care about God will not be
joining in his kingdom. Those who use and abuse each other, use and abuse sex, use and abuse the earth
and everything in it, don’t qualify as citizens in God’s kingdom. A number of you know from experience what
I’m talking about, for not so long ago you were on that list. Since then, you’ve been cleaned up and given a
fresh start by Jesus, our Master, our Messiah, and by our God present in us, the Spirit.		10 categories of sinners who will not inheret the kingdom of God are eliminted, one new category is
introduced: "Use and abuse the earth."

body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his
own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple
of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God,

commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral
person sins against his own body. Or do you not know
that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you,

our own bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-modeled love, for "becoming one" with
another. Or didn't you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don't you see
that you can't live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part
of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you.		The simple statement "Flee from Sexual immorality" is eliminated. Sexual immorality comes to be
about commitment and intimacy, which is not previously mentioned in the original scriptures.

The Message brings a new message, that salvation is more about conforming and being good, rather

backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture:		Sin is exactly what seperates us from God. Persecution removed. The Bible tells us that Christians
who follow Chris will experience persecution at some point. The new Americanized gospel tells us
that if we give enough money to the church and say the right phrases, everything in our life will be
perfect.

women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be
good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior. Also, guide
the young men to live disciplined lives.		Words obedient / subject to husbands removed. Do not malign the word of God also removed.

ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their
trespasses.		So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you,

you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”		The king summoned the man and said, ‘You evil servant! I forgave your entire debt when you begged me
for mercy. Shouldn’t you be compelled to be merciful to your fellow servant who asked for mercy?’ The king
was furious and put the screws to the man until he paid back his entire debt. And that’s exactly what my
Father in heaven is going to do to each one of you who doesn’t forgive unconditionally anyone who asks for
mercy.		Theology of the atonement changed again, asking for mercy is not a requirement. Forgiveness is a
requirement whether they ask for mercy or not.

might be saved.		The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan
with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all
wicked deception for those who are perishing, because
they refused to love the truth and so be saved.		that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of
Satan, with all power and false signs and wonders, and with
all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because
they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved.
The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power
through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways
that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They
perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
The Anarchist’s coming is all Satan’s work. All his power and signs and miracles are fake, evil sleight of
hand that plays to the gallery of those who hate the truth that could save them. And since they’re so
obsessed with evil, God rubs their noses in it—gives them what they want. Since they refuse to trust truth,
they’re banished to their chosen world of lies and illusions.		The pattern in the Message translation is to minimize occult / Satanic dangers and also minimize the
consequences of them.

doing slithering down here to the river? Do you think a little water on your snakeskins is going to make any
difference?		Warning about the coming wrath eliminated.

appearances don’t impress me.		Any verse of any theological importance, the Message will add verses and confusion. Here,
repentence is eliminated in a wave of verbosity.

for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of
the scriptures might have hope. Now the God of patience
and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward
another according to Christ Jesus:		For whatever was written in former days was written for

encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you
to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with
Christ Jesus,		For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our

may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement
grant you to be of the same mind with one another,

have hope. May the God who gives endurance and
encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward
each other that Christ Jesus had,		Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure it's written for us. God wants the combination of
his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us
alert for whatever he will do next. May our dependably steady and warmly personal God develop maturity in
you so that you get along with each other as well as Jesus gets along with us all.		Endurance, hope, patience, all eliminated. Perservering through troubles is not a theological element
embraced by The Message Translation.

by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no
man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.		Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking
in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no
one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.		Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the
Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed”; and no one can say,
“Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.		Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking
by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can
say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.		For instance, by using your heads, you know perfectly well that the Spirit of God would
never prompt anyone to say "Jesus be damned!" Nor would anyone be inclined to
say "Jesus is Master!" without the insight of the Holy Spirit.		The term: "Lord God" is used over 500 times in other translations, only 9 times in the Message.
The term Master God has new age conotations and is not listed in the original languages.

times.

applauds. And know that you are in good company. My prophets and witnesses have always gotten into this
kind of trouble.
Heavenly reward eliminated, focus more on your best life now.

forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not
inherit the kingdom of God.		The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity
and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord,
jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions
and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I
did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the
kingdom of God.		It is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time: repetitive, loveless,
cheap sex; a stinking accumulation of mental and emotional garbage; frenzied and joyless grabs for
happiness; trinket gods; magic-show religion; paranoid loneliness; cutthroat competition; all-consuming-yet-
never-satisfied wants; a brutal temper; an impotence to love or be loved; divided homes and divided lives;
small-minded and lopsided pursuits; the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival; uncontrolled
and uncontrollable addictions; ugly parodies of community. I could go on. This isn’t the first time I have
warned you, you know. If you use your freedom this way, you will not inherit God’s kingdom.		specific actions that prevent you from entering God's kingdom are eliminated, this is a pattern that
we see throughout the entire Message translation. It becomes less about the original Greek,
Hebrew, and Aramaic, and more about delivering us a new Americanized gospel, which is less about
sin, righteousness, and a holy God, and more about man's hopes, goals, and desires.

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you
think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax
, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and
the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-
reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human
concerns will be met. “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up
about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up
when the time comes. “You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s
the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.		Warning about do not worry about food and clothing removed. Seek God first and his righteousness
also removed.

temple.		No one will get by with vandalizing God's temple, you can be sure of that. God's temple is sacred - and you,
remember, are the temple.		Scriptural warning about defiling the temple of God is eliminated. God's temple is holy and those that
destroys it will be destroyed. A constant theme with the Message Bible is the theological element of
God being a loving God but also a righteous God, our judge who hates sin and judges has been
removed so we have a loving God who loves sin and does not address it's consequences

the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you

Have you experienced so much in vain—if it really was in
vain?		Let me put this question to you: How did your new life begin? Was it by working your heads off to please
God? Or was it by responding to God’s Message to you? Are you going to continue this craziness? For only
crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. If you weren’t
smart enough or strong enough to begin it, how do you suppose you could perfect it? Did you go through
this whole painful learning process for nothing? It is not yet a total loss, but it certainly will be if you keep this
up!		Receiving the Spirit removed.

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in
which you used to live when you followed the ways of this
world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who
is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also
lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our
flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we
were by nature deserving of wrath.		It wasn’t so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin. You let the world, which doesn’t
know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief, and then
exhaled disobedience. We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us
in the same boat. It’s a wonder God didn’t lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us.		Again, the spiritual aspect of the demonic realm is eliminated, while sin is glossed over. Supernatural
aspects are deleted while the consequence of sin is glossed over.

Away from me, you evildoers!’		"Knowing the correct password - saying 'Master, Master,' for instance - isn't going to get you anywhere with
me. What is required is serious obedience - doing what my Father wills. I can see it now - at the Final
Judgment thousands strutting up to me and saying, 'Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the
demons, our God-sponsored projects had everyone talking.' And do you know what I am going to say? 'You
missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don't impress me one bit. You're
out of here.'		Serious obedience included, salvation and the atonement changed.

from the evil one.’		With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: Our Father in heaven, Reveal who you
are. Set the world right; Do what's best - as above, so below. Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others. Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil. You're in charge!
You can do anything you want! You're ablaze in beauty! Yes. Yes. Yes.		Foundational prayer in the Bible has been heavily altered. As above, so below is a new age
reference. Entire prayer is heavily altered.

woman so that she gives birth prematurely, but there is no
injury, the guilty person shall certainly be fined as the woman’s

decide. But if there is any further injury, then you shall
appoint as a penalty life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth,
hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound,
bruise for bruise.		“If people are fighting and hit a pregnant woman and she
gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the
offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband
demands and the court allows. But if there is serious injury,
you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth,
hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for
wound, bruise for bruise.		"When there's a fight and in the fight a pregnant woman is hit so that she miscarries but is not otherwise hurt,
the one responsible has to pay whatever the husband demands in compensation. But if there is further
damage, then you must give life for life. - eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for
burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.		In Mosaic law, this scripture shows that there are different punishments in this scenario, based on
whether or not the unborn child lives or not. This shows that God puts a value on an unborn life, and
sees the unborn child as having value. This has been removed from the Message Bible.
