The Museum of Working Class Movement in 21st Century is a Project of Applied Research, whose researcher-coordinator is the National Museum, and the cooperating researcher is The Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes. The project team of both institutes has been working on the Project solution since 2018.

The main objective of the Project is making accessible and present selected materials of the Collection of the Museum of Working Class Movement of the National Museum and other collections of similar nature within the context of 21st century, and their use for educational purposes. The museum funds of the Collection of the Museum of Working Class Movement, consisting of museum, archival and library materials, come in particular from former Party museums (Klement Gottwald Museum with a branch of Julius Fučík Museum, and V. I. Lenin Museum). The Project researchers wish to show them as cultural heritage which can be processed critically even in 21st century.

ABOUT THE COLLECTION OF THE MUSEUM OF WORKING CLASS MOVEMENT
The Collection of the Museum of Working Class Movement consists of objects, archival materials and books from the former Party museums – The Klement Gottwald Museum with a branch of Julius Fučík Museum and V.I. Lenin Museum.

It includes thematically relevant part of social movements, including international contexts, and the documents on history and some areas of activities of political parties (in particular the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ) and the Social Democratic Party). Its profile is devoted to the development of the Czechoslovak society in particular in the latter half of 20th century. To be more precise, the Collection contains presentations of historic revolutionary events – the Hussite period, the year 1848, the rise and development of working class movement, the history of the Czechoslovak social-democratic movement and of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ), the Spanish Civil War, the anti -fascist resistance movement, the Slovak National Insurrection, the years 1945 and 1948, the development of national democracy and of the beginnings of socialism. An important part of the Collection are the objects, printed documents and books adding to the official faces of the presidents Gottwald and Zápotocký, and the extensive fund of Julius and Gusta Fučík. The variety of types of objects and the extent of material spectrum of the Collection is conditioned by topical collection for certain events, phenomena, personalities, etc. – from the most unique objects up to usual type of everyday life objects.

The period of the Collection lasts from the year 1848 up to the 80th of the 20 century, while its main focus is the 20th century. The older period is directed in particular at the documentation and presentation of the beginnings of the working class movement.

THE MAP AND ATLAS OF THE WORKING CLASS MOVEMENT
The Map and Atlas of the working class movement are educational Project applications, by means of which you may view the Collection objects within wider context.

THE PROJECT OUTPUTS
Within the Project entitled “The Museum of Working Class Movement in 21st Century” have been planned many major and minors outputs – educational applications, exhibitions, catalogues, books and articles.

EDUCATION
The Collection of the Museum of Working Class Movement offers many occasions for education. Well applicable are above all the methods of the so-called inquiry based learning, when the pupils and students learn by means of educational procedures which are framed by educational inquiry. It is especially these collection objects, which were earlier part of official memory policy and are almost forgotten today, which may suitably introduce such inquiry questions. How was this sculpture exhibited earlier? Which values has it been connected with? Which emotions it inspires in me? And which emotions it inspires in my parents and grandparents? These are only examples of questions which may be asked with regard to the collection artefacts. The experience with the development of educational applications and the didactics of the collection objects will be gathered in a book, by which the Project will culminate from the educational point of view.

THE DICTIONARY OF THE WORKING CLASS MOVEMENT
The Dictionary of the Working Class Movement offers help in getting bearings in the terms relating to the topic of the Project. By means of this Dictionary you may gain access to the key terms connected with committed museum work during the period of State Socialism, defining the work therewith, both in the field of museum and archival processing of the Collection, and in the field of exhibitions and educational programs.

collective memory
Memory of Nations is one of Europe's most extensive collections of life stories. It has been publicly accessible since 2008 as a database of testimonies of witnesses of 20th century events who survived the two totalitarian regimes - nazism and communism. The stories illustrate how these regimes impacted individual lives, and allow for uncovering of their substance.

Memory of Nations is accessible to all interested people, both registered and not, for research purposes as a source of recognition of the past and of lessons learned from our history.

The collection is administered by the charitable association Post Bellum (meaning 'after the war' in Latin), established in 2001 by journalists and historians who have realized only how important it was to record personal memories of World War II and communism.

Post Bellum administers the collection alongside its partner organizations - Czech Radio and Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes. Post Bellum further collaborates with the Czech Television and a number of other partners from Europe, Russia, the US and elsewhere on the documentation and archiving of oral testimonies.

Archive

The archive is accessible to all visitors of the Memory of Nations portal. It contains stories of witnesses based on audio or video recordings of their recollections.

Each story is presented in the form of a brief biography and a longer text which is accessible below the biography under the link to the full story of the witness.

The story further contains selected excerpts from the recording in the form of audio or video clips including their transcripts, pictures and documents, other archive materials and links to related sources, as well as English translations of the short bio, clips and photo captions.

Visitors can search for stories using an alphabetical list or full-text search located in the top right of each page. Individual witnesses are assigned to specific eras, events and thematic categories, which put their respective stories in a context.

E-Archive

Registered users have access to full uncut recordings, minutes and other archive materials stored in the e-archive. Registration is done by filling in the online form and agreeing to the rules of use.

In the vast majority of cases, the full recordings are not transcribed. The recording itself is perceived as the primary historical source for use in further research. In order to navigate easily and swiftly in the recording, each researcher can make use of the minutes provided.

Another feature that makes Hungaricana special is the representation of historical maps thanks to the GIS (Geographic Information System) technology. The processed maps were on one hand from the Austrian State Archives: 1st and 2nd military surveys (1:28.800, map sheets drawn by hand) and on the other hand very detailed and precisely edited cadastral maps from the Hungarian and Croatian Archives (scale 1:2.880). Georeferenced maps can be browsed both in 2 and 3 dimensional, synchronized mode, moreover they can be placed on a present-day Google Map or Open StreetMap. Next to the military surveys and cadastral maps, the database contains old city maps of Buda and Pest, on which you can trace the infrastructural development of the Hungarian capital.

Heritage related to Nazi Persecution (HNP) appears in various forms such as diaries, letters and testimonies that capture memories of eyewitnesses, or registers like death records, deportation statistics and historical photographs that provide important contextual information to these memories. MEMORISE will create a framework to preserve and enhance HNP by virtualising and linking multimodal HNP data resources and by developing and offering novel digital technologies to the general public for accessing, exploring and engaging with HNP. The heart of MEMORISE will be an HNP infrastructure to assist consortial and associated memorial sites and archives in processing 80,000+ HNP content items to make them persistently accessible to the public. The goals of the project is to develop: 1) a suite of digital tools for presenting, narrating and engaging with HNP data including a web-based HNP platform for unguided exploration, an HNP reader to support comparative readings as well as three on-site and virtual learning interfaces to support general public users in interacting with HNP in new ways 2) a user model and an AI engine for individualised content based on user behavior and preferences to generate individualised experiences for these interfaces. Semi-automated AI-based services will be a major component of our data processing pipeline to feed Dutch, English and German HNP materials into the HNP infrastructure. 3) an educational concept to evaluate the benefits and limitations of our user interfaces for learning on and engaging with HNP in on-site and virtual visits, especially in times of a pandemic with relevance for a large array of adjacent memorial sites and creative industries. Our social media concept will target engaging digital native generations to explore HNP. 4) an intersectional toolkit including best-practices to accelerate the use of digital tools in cultural heritage and adjacent cultural industries to fully exploit the project results

The Slovak Archive of Social Data (SASD) arose in 2004 with the aim of making the documentation, data and information about the results of sociological research accessible for the needs of research and non-commercial use, and to store them in electronic and printed form.
The basis of the data archive is primarily formed by the documentation and the data from international research programmes such as the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) and information about research were realized in the framework of European Social Survey (ESS), and the European Values Study (EVS), in which Slovakia participated through funding from the state budget or external grants.
SASD also preserves and makes those results of sociological research accessible that were financed by private means or arose out of commercial purposes, but only if the data rights owner decides to open these to the public and the research fulfils the usual professional requirements.
Apart from data, SASD consists of lists of other social data archives worldwide, links to important social data sources and a list of publications, authors of which used data available in the data archive.

Unique, specialized repository of doctoral theses, their abstracts, reviews and preprints of scientific papers in the field of world-Slavic linguistics and related fields serves the dissemination and popularisation of scientific papers, and thus facilitates the exchange of scientific ideas between researchers in different centres and countries. The project's goal is also the dissemination of knowledge in the field of Slavic linguistics and related fields among non-specialists and people outside the scientific community and academia. The repository is conceived as an innovative, comparative and interdisciplinary source of texts with extensive bibliographic descriptions. iReteslaw is a thematic repository, which distinguishes it from institutional repositories. As a result, the content and scope of the database is wider than it is in traditional repositories, limited to the publications of a given scientific institution.

Men, women, and even children were among them, and a quarter never returned due to harsh conditions, diseases, or emigration post-war. Post-war, suspicion from authorities and hostility from neighbors in the Soviet Union forced many into silence. "While Staying in Germany" is an online archive featuring 150+ photographs of Ukrainian forced laborers during the war. These images served as a means for them to document solidarity, communicate with each other and their families in Ukraine. Despite uncertainty about the owners, these photos were acquired from online auctions and flea markets, often abandoned by descendants. Each photo, although lacking ownership details, holds untold stories, some of which have been uncovered by identifying laborers and obtaining additional information.
