18-BMWF #13 West Fork BridgeSun River Trail #202S.Fork Sun RMRD335The pack bridge that spans Sun River is an impressive piece of engineering. Because of its location in the Wilderness no modern machinery was used to build it and all the materials were brought in by horse and mule. To keep this bridge in tip top shape, it needs maintenance. Volunteers will be making improvements to the retaining wall at the bridge abutment. 7/28/20187/31/2018

18-Weeds #5 Winter Ridge West fork teton SBRD 5522The two-day hike to (and from) base camp through the Bob and Great Bear Wilderness makes this trip a favorite for long distance backpackers hoping to get to the middle of scenic wilderness and immersed in solitude. Volunteers will attack a knapweed patch that sits high on a ridge at the headwaters of the Wild and Scenic Middle Fork of the Flathead River. These invasives need to be sprayed before they take over and spread down river. Volunteers will be working on a steep slope offtrail. Strong calves and sturdy boots are a must.8/4/20188/11/2018

Camp will be on the east side of the pass just a mile or two from the switchbacks. This trail gets a lot of use from stock and backpackers, and the switchback section is in need of some TLC to make them safer. Pulaskis, pick mattocks, and the occasional rock bar will be the main tools used to accomplish this work. 8/18/20188/24/2018
