AUDITION INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS 2024

Our Production Auditions are a HUGE stepping stone to 'putting yourself out there' as a young dancer or performer - so why not start practising your audition skills within our nurturing and positive environment!
6
All Inter, Teen & Senior students at WPAS are invited to audition - and whilst not everyone can be successful in being cast as a Principal Character or Soloist, the experience is an incredible opportunity to test your confidence, preparation and skill.
7
8
Our teachings for this process are for our students to seek 'self validation' - if they FEEL they did the best job they did, then THAT is enough! Regardless of what any panel or person has to say about it. How we feel after walking out of an audition is the most important asset to nurture and grow within this experience.

INTER / INTER ADVANCED AUDITIONS - WONDERLAND CONCERT
13
14
Students are asked to perform an item between 30-90 seconds which can be in the form of a Dance Solo or Duo, A Song or A Monologue of their choosing. All students will be involved in these productions performing in their class routines regardless if they receive a role or not - This year there is no script for the show, rather select scenes and characters that intertwine throughout the routines to break up the classes and quickchanges.
15
If you are auditioning with two pieces (eg a song and a dance) please make sure they are both capped at 90 seconds or less

Audition Tips!
32
1) Start practising what you are going to audition with now.. Don't decide the night before! Preparation is everything
33
2) Wear what you are comfortable in - dance wear, fitness gear or a nice casual outfit. Be sure to be well groomed and presented!
34
3) Breathe! We are always on your side...
35
4) Arrive 15 minutes earlier incase Auditions are running on time and smoothly, and give yourself time to practise and warm up
36
5) Find what calms you! Discover what 'calms' you when you're putting yourself at a higher stake.. Wear something that you feel good in, drink plenty of water and use what ever calms you whether it's oils, breathing exercises, headphones for music etc
37
6) Bring your music on an iPhone / iPad or YouTube link
38

What happens after the Audition?
40
41
We will email you / your parents the outcome the week after the Auditions. Material will be learnt during Term 4, some during class time and some in some solo sessions with an allocated teacher. Some items will be 'collaborative' where the student has input, and some are set by the teacher.
42
SENIOR GRADUATING STUDENTS NEED TO CONTACT THE OFFICE IN PERSON AND VIA EMAIL IF THEY WISH TO GRADUATE IN THE LAST SHOW
43
Please note, if you are selected to learn an item for the concert and need to learn a solo with one of our teachers - there is a cost for this solo session ($36 per half hour.) Most teachers only need approx 2-4 sessions for concert solos / items
