Welcome to the AR15 Parts Weights Database. This Google Sheet is an archive of part weight data with the objective of serving as a part-selection tool for the custom AR assembler. In addition to weight data, other useful information has been added to the PWD as well. If you want to know gas block set screw spacing or rail mounting configurations or whether or not a certain BCG has forward assist serrations, or what an upper receiver forge mark means, or roll pin size specs, you'll find all of that and more here in the PWD. Users such as yourself are encouraged to submit weight data via the sheet titled "User Data Submission". Simply add your part information to the editable sheet and it will be integrated into the main database ASAP. If you'd like to sort the data for your own purposes, no problem, copy and paste it into your own spreadsheet and sort away! :) Some comments...

1. I'm always in the process of making the sheets more descriptive / informative / useful, and am certainly willing to entertain suggestions. If you have an idea of how to make the PWD more accessible or useful or detailed, I'm all ears! Similarly, if you have a question, please ask! I tend to monitor my accounts constantly when conscious, so you'll likely get a quick response. My contact info is below. I am also occassionally on the 'chat' for the Google Sheet when I am editing / monitoring it.

2. If you add a part / weight, please leave your forum screen name in the comments field for the data you add. This not only shows who contributed what, it allows people to contact people that have used said part to ask them questions etc.

3. There's only two weights reported here, manufacturer (M) and user (U). Manufacture means DIRECTLY from the source, like packaging, manuals, the company www site, promotional materials, or press releases. Pretty much everything else is a "user" weight...even if said user is an authorized retailer or whatever.

4. Actual weight data is in black text. The light gray text is merely a placeholder that makes it easier to do simple sorting operations.

5. All weights are in ounces. If your scale isn't capable of greater than tenth of an oz accuracy, the data probably isn't going to be accurate enough to be helpful to others and shouldn't be added to the database.

6. If you ARE the manufacturer and want to contest data or add data, I would LOVE to hear from you. Accuracy and comprehensiveness is what I strive for. Feel free to contact me any time. I set up a Gmail account just for this purpose. It's: arfcomlightweight@gmail.com. If you'd prefer to IM me on arfcom, my screen name there is: jekbrown

7. Accuracy: This database is intended to be a guide to assist the weight-conscious to make sound design decisions with their custom builds. It should be considered the begining of your research, not the end...because the data is not gospel in spite of all my efforts. Sometimes manufacturers data isn't 100% accurate, sometimes there is a variance due to manufacturing processes, sometimes I make typos, sometimes a manufacturer's product will change over time and it isn't announced (e.g. gen 2!), and sometimes people just use poor quality / inaccurate / uncalibrated scales. In any event, take all data with a grain of salt and do your own research before making a final decision on purchasing parts.

8. Have any questions? You can email them to me (arfcomlightweight@gmail.com), PM on arfcom (jekbrown), or post them here in the PWD in the user data submission sheet. I'll post such questions in the FAQ sheet.
