North Carolina 4-H Achievement Application Guidelines

The NC 4-H Achievement Application may be used to apply for the following awards:
1. NC 4-H Achievement Plan (County Awards: Cloverbud, Green, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Achievement medal) 2. NC 4-H Honor Club (State Award)

The purpose of this document is to highlight the 4-H member experiences through activities, leadership, citizenship, and service. The Achievement Plan, Honor Club Application, and AIRE applications coincide with one another in terms of 4-H achievements and experiences. This form is meant to be all inclusive of 4-H and non-4-H work, but can be utilized in multiple years for the purposes of applying to each opportunity separately. Please work with your 4-H Agent/Staff to ensure this is being formatted and saved correctly for you.

Points are earned in five categories: participation, community service, communication, civic engagement, and leadership.

Limit any descriptions to one line (Officer responsibility, etc).

An entry may include participation on club/local (L), county (C), multi-county/district (M/D), state (S), regional (R), national (N) and/or international (I) levels.

Some areas list examples of possible activities/events. The 4-H’er is not limited to these examples.

The Non 4-H category under each section is limited to two entries per year.

A strong application reflects participation throughout all categories.

Only one level may be awarded per year.

An activity, event, project, or program may only be used in ONE category. Review each tab prior to entering your information to determime best placement of your activities.

Totaling PointsEach category will have subtotals which are added for a category total entered in each level.

Total Points will include all activities in that category from current and previous years.

If this is the first time you are completing this version of the Achievement Plan, and you have previously been awarded a Green Level or higher insert the minimum points required for that level in the space provided on line F2 on the Levels tab.

Show Multiple occurrences over consecutive years of the same activity listed on one row with total number of times in respective column.

Under Print: Workbook, you will see a drop down menu for Selection: All Sheets. Click the drop down menu under Selection and be sure that the following sheets are checked:1. Applicant Info - 2. Participation - 3. Service - 4. Communication - 5. CivicEngagement - 6. Leadership - 7. Totals - 8. LevelsOnce you have your sheet selections checked, click the APPLY. Clicking APPLY will close out non-checked selections.Click the blue NEXT button in the top right, this will open a PRINT SYSTEM window. If you choose to PRINT a copy, find the printer of choice. Electronic versions should be saved as a PDF to be submitted.

The Achievement Plan should be printed or emailed to be submitted to your County 4-H Professional by their deadline.

Membership in the North Carolina 4-H Honor Club is bestowed upon those 4-H’ers who have exhibited outstanding 4-H civic engagement, leadership, and community service throughout their 4-H career. An Honor Club member continues to provide leadership and service to the total 4-H program throughout life.

IMPORTANT: The final application should be downloaded AS AN EXCEL DOCUMENT or SHARED THROUGH GOOGLE DRIVE with EDITING ACCESS GRANTED and submitted with a photo to your County 4-H Professional. Your photo should be a good quality photo (headshot photo).

Application, Interview, Resume, Electronic Video (AIRE) - NATIONAL TRIPS APPLICATION

Youth participate AIRE by completing the four (4) AIRE candidate packet components. All candidates submitting a complete packet will be invited to participate in either the State-Level competitive program (open to youth ages 14-18) or in the non-competitive program (open to youth ages 11-13). Youth participating in the competitive AIRE program are eligible to be selected to attend national events such as National Congress, National Conference, and International Leadership Conference.
