Wellness FundWellness FundWellness, health, and recreation services are in dire need of improvement at UC Berkeley, which lacks new, innovative mind-body services that students want. The Wellness Initiative Fee aims to address the concerning rise of mental health complications on campus and provide new support for minority student groups (ie. students of color, LGBTQIA students, veterans, student parents, international students, students with disabilities, and other student populations face unique wellness challenges that require additional support not currently available to them).

All campus units and student groups that aim to create a culture of Wellness for the student body are eligible to apply for one-time or multi-year funding from the Wellness Fund. Proposals that specifically address wellness needs of underserved student populations are eligible to receive funding from the $350,000 Diversity Wellness Fund. Berkeley CrowdfundingBerkelely Crowdfunding Using the UC Berkeley's Crowdfunding platform, students, student organizations, faculty, staff members, and/or researchers crowdfund their project or initiative. This includes:
--Providing all of the materials required for their crowdfunding page (the project description, the video, the perks, bios of the team, images, and the budget breakdown).
--The team is responsible for the majority of fundraising. You need to reach out to your networks and encourage donations.
--Creating promotional and marketing materials before, during, and after the campaign.
--Teams work with the Crowdfunding Manager as a resource for best practices and developing materials and outreach strategy.
--Eligible Projects: Are affiliated with UC Berkeley and non-profit in nature; have a sponsoring Berkeley department, program or center, in which donations can be deposited into; consist of project leaders that are willing to create and market promotion materials before, during and after the campaign; and gain approval by submitting an application and project pitch before the next round’s deadline.
--Successful Projects: Tend to be community impact-driven as donors love to give to people and know that they are helping others – so if a project has a great social impact, it is typically more successful; tangible and specific crowdfunding projects do very well when a team can breakdown and explain their project or activity budget in detail (say for equipment, etc.) as donors love to see exactly what their donations will provide; projects and activities involving 5 or more people tend to be more successful as they can connect to more possible donors.
--Not Allowed: Projects and activities that raise money for other non-profits.
