We would like to acknowledge that Cañada College sits on the traditional land of the Ramaytush (Rah-my-toosh) Ohlone (Oh-LOW-nee) peoples, and to pay respects to past elders and honor the present community. Long before Cañada College existed, this area was home to the Ramaytush Ohlone peoples who still have a presence in the bay today. Let us not forget the colonization of this land. Let us honor the people who have stewarded this land for generations, and let us honor the truth.

I was able to attend a 6.5 hour training with Dean Hartman on Title IX. We received a lot of information about how to support students and the new laws regarding Title IX. Our training focused on how to conduct interviews in the process.

Some of the big picture items for students is: our college is here to support! If an incident occurs, it may not fall under Title IX federal/state regulations however it could fall under our college's Student Code of Conduct and be addressed that way. A Title IX case process can take 4+ months (a campus committee handles student to student cases and district HR handles anything that involves faculty/staff, Title IX does not go on transcripts, and all students involved must be SMCCD students at an SMCCD event. Also, always keep your screenshots!

Classified Senate will have special meetings with Student Reps, at this time, Student Reps do not go to closed session meetings.
