We recommend doing the rapid assessment tools with a minimum team of four people – two women and two men. This allows for diverse opinions and experience and allows you to have good group discussions. For some of the methods you can divide into pairs (one female and one male) so that data collection can be done more rapidly. This is useful for the handwashing demonstrations, and the personal history method. For the focus group discussions, you may find that only two members of the team are needed. You may also like to have a 5th person of the team who is more like a supervisor. This person can liaise with local stakeholders and provides ongoing feedback to the main team involved in data collection.
