Aux - auxiliary instruments used to accompany taiko ensembles - Chappa, Fue, Kane, Katsugi Okedo.
Beta - Down-style, taiko is vertically where the hitting surface is horizontal to the floor. Most basic style of taiko.
Hachijo - Traditional taiko style from Hachijo Island. Drum is placed horizontally on a higher stand, fluid movements and improvisation.
Naname - One of the most popular styles in the US, taiko is placed on a diagonal stand. Allows for exciting taiko choreography.
Odaiko - The "Big Drum" where the drum is placed so that the hitting surface is perpendicular to the floor.
Shime - the smaller "Tightened Drum" with sharp high pitch, the hitting surface is horizontal to the floor.
