Comparison of Zing Orbit to Skycut C
2
3
PriorityItem or FunctionZing OrbitSkycut C16Winner
4
MBlade Holder
Adjustable on Top - uses springs
Button on Top - no springsZO: easier to adjust blade exposure
5
MBlade Holder SeatFully adjustableRestricted to 11.5 mmZO: easier to mount tools and more tools can be used
6
HTables
Metal tables that attach to cutter
NoneZO: tables keep mat horizontal: important for heavier materials; I found a suitable box to place behind the Skycut which has served as needed.
7
HControl Panel (CP)NoneHighly functionalSkycut: more settings/options, Repeat and Pause functions
8
HTest CutMust be done from SCALCan be done from software or CPSkycut: must faster/easier when standing at cutter
9
HSetting OriginMust be done from SCALMust be done from CPSkycut: easier to do when standing at cutter plus you can use the camera for extremely precise setting, if desired.
10
MCalibrating for PNCMust be done from SCAL - can be confusing to some usersMust be done from CP - automaticSkycut: very easy process
11
HPerforming PNCMust click twice after scanning for cut to be carried out.Cut immediately proceeds after reg marks are scannedSkycut: because you can use the camera to set the origin, there are fewer chances of failure
12
HPNC AccuracyGoodExceptional: superb accuracy across a sheetSkycut: offers ability to add intermediary reg marks for repeated reading on long projects (using PLT export onto a flash drive)
13
HSpeed20 Speed settings13 speed settings
ZO: I think it's important to have a range of settings "in the middle."
14
HMax Cutting Force1000 g850 gEqual: Not sure the extra 150 g will mean anything different in terms of materials. Quality of cuts appears equal, as expected.
15
MConnectivityUSB, Wi-Fi, stand-alone wirelessWi-Fi, USB, or read PLT files from flash driveSkycut: Much easier to set up Wi-Fi plus USB is "true" USB
16
HPinch wheelsNo difference
17
M
Pinch wheels locations
4 positions, all one inch wide3 positions: left is ~1" wide, middle is ~1.75" wide, right is ~3" wideSkycut: Far easier to keep pinch wheels in correct locations when the grit area is wider. Note: newest Zing Orbit models now have the same as the Skycut 16.

Software Compatibility
Fully functional with SCAL4/5. Limited functionality with MTCSCAL4/5, SignMaster, VinylMaster, SignCut, Flexi, Corel DrawSkycut: Unless you're an MTC owner. However, it is unlikely that MTC will work indefinitely given it's abandonware.
