Food SherpaGrading Boston restaurants based on food inspection data. Our grades are assigned using percentile ranks of the different violation levels (***, **, and *).We are looking to collaborate with city leaders, preferably in Boston's Division of Health Inspections. We would like to learn how we can best promote our data visualization tool. Our goal is to improve public health, through increased knowledge of restaurant food inspections. Research from New York City has already shown that such publicly available knowledge encourages restaurants to improve their hygiene practices, which in turn reduces food borne illnesses. It would be great if some of your city officials could help make our grades more visible to the general public.Neal Jawadekar

Thubway Create a tool that will provide route options that combine the use of MBTA and Hubway. The Hubway option would appear for trips whose origin or destination are more than 12 minutes from a transit stop. Hubway route choices would extend for all sets of connections that are within the 1/2 hour Hubway window.I am imagining a mobile first javascript front-end with D3 connected to a MYSQL database with node or python or php in between. I am interested in pair programming this thing (or tri or quatro) and want it to have a life after HubhacksTim McKenna
@mcktim, mckenna.tim@gmail.com,
MBTA TimePointCrossings.csv can stand in for a production data feed using MBTA-REALTIME GTFSRT + Hubway Data they shared for their hackathon.Replied

Bogged Down BussesCreate a tool for Mayor Walsh's control panel that would graphically indicate portions of city bus routes that are bogged down in traffic. Data could be viewed for a time period or cumulatively and would be helpful for planners considering bus-only lanes or traffic signals timed to bus location.I am imagining a mobile first javascript front-end with D3 connected to a MYSQL database with node or python or php in between. I am interested in pair programming this thing (or tri or quatro) and want it to have a life after HubhacksTim McKenna

Healthy CityHealthy City: Provide a tool for Mayor Walsh and for Boston residents to identify the most accessible public parks and areas to exercise. This will include access to parks in the city, MBTA stops and frequency within each park's area, and traffic accessibility. The result will provide the best parks to go to exercise based on time-of-day and day-of-week, and an indication of parks that are less accessible or attended.
