Hardware includes an HP NonStop server in each of the Cotton and Tobacco Program’s ten classing offices, one in the Quality Assurance Section (QA), one used for program development in the office of the Information Technology staff (ITD), and one that is used as the National Database System (NDB). The QA, ITD and NDB systems reside in the Memphis, TN complex. Classing offices provide testing of cotton samples submitted by producers with test data from High Volume Instruments and human classers being entered into the system. Checklot samples are randomly selected and sent to the Quality Assurance office for comparison of test results.
