Milestone Chart / Timeline Template

6
What this template does
7
A one-page view of the dates that matter: deliverables, owners, baseline vs. current date, and status — no task-level detail, just the commitments.
8
Each milestone tracks a baseline date (frozen once committed) alongside a current date, so slip is visible without digging through a full plan.
9
The summary block up top counts milestones done, flags the next one due, and averages how far things have slipped.
10
11
How to use it
12
1. Set the timeline start date (cell C3).
13
2. Add one row per milestone: Milestone, Workstream, Owner, Deliverable/exit criteria, Baseline date, Current date, Status.
14
3. Freeze the baseline once it's agreed — don't edit it again; move only the current date as things change.
15
4. Slip, days-to-go, and the quarter/year timeline markers (◆ current, ◇ baseline) all calculate on their own.
16
5. Use one row per externally visible commitment — if a date doesn't matter to a stakeholder outside the team, it probably belongs in a task-level plan instead.
